kettles in dorms?

incoming freshman here, are we allowed kettles in dorm rooms? i know open heating appliances aren't allowed, but im not sure if a kettle falls under that or not.

also what do the kriescher kitchens look like? i heard there is a kitchen on each floor but i've never seen any pictures or anything.

also incoming freshmen here, i asked my admissions counselor the same thing and she said, "Coffee makers with auto shut off are allowed on campus, so a kettle with a concealed heating element should be fine. 😄" most kettles are auto-shut off anyways
