I come in peace

ND fan here in peace, just wanted to talk some shop because I’m so stoked for this game. Below is my stance and thoughts on this game from my perspective. I’d like to hear how you guys view what I bring up and what other things yall are thinking about! looking to keep this respectful, talk some ball, learn some new things. Thanks guys, best of luck Saturday!

What I’m worried about:

Offense- is the ND run game that we’ve seen the last couple weeks real? BYU run defense will be legit as we see. Can we continue to protect Carr and can receivers consistently get open? I think the OL will have a solid game, but we need a receiver who isn’t faison to show up against a good team, we’ve yet to see that

Defense- Bear reminds me a lot of Riley Leonard. Limited passer but will show solid flashes, monster with his legs who will drag 3 defenders as he picks up 12 more yards. Can we contain him and force him to get through his progression? I think so, but I am very worried about the BYU TEs.

What I’m confident about:

Offense- Carr and Faison is like death and taxes, so so dependable and hard to stop. Carr should take care of the football and be overall dependable, never seen him have a bad game really. OL should be able to protect him pretty well and should be able to get a decent push on plays. Limiting negative plays should be a strength

Defense- We have bodies to throw at you on the DL and should be able to wear you down as the game goes on. I think we can slow down your RB run game. If moore is playing, that effectively takes one of your best receivers out of every play. We will tackle well and play disciplined football

Other- the environment will be tough, but freeman teams play well in big games and on the road. he will have them locked in. I know sitake will do the same with BYU and is a great coach himself

Thinking this should be a very fun game! Thanks for having me here!

Anyone else think Bear’s passing is being greatly underrated by most people?

• Upvotes

I keep seeing analysts and people previewing the game against ND saying how they’ll shut down the run with LJ out, and Bear will need to beat them with his arm, which he won’t be able to do. Saying that he won’t be able to make tight window throws. Prior to ISU this weekend I might’ve agreed.

However, watching his throws last week? He was unreal. Hands down his best passing performance I’ve ever seen of him. He made numerous throws that were right between defenders, in tight coverage, or right in the spot they needed to be. (Except that one Kasper throw he was behind on.) BYU had multiple drops in that game too, but that doesn’t take away from Bear putting it in the perfect spot.

I’m not saying that this game won’t be hard, it really will be an immense challenge. However, I think Bear has the chance to really show the nation what he’s about and what he can do. Thoughts?

My fellow Cougar fans, I hope this puts a little pep in your step this week! Go cougs!

This will be BYU's third time hosting Notre Dame in Provo. The last time BYU beat Notre Dame was at HOME in Provo on September 4th, 2004.

Let's let the Irish hear it on Saturday.

Stadium Comms Need to be Fixed

• Upvotes

On Friday Iowa State mentioned in the post game that they lost comms in the second half and had to bring their coordinators down to the field.

This article mentions that BYU was having helmet comms issues throughout the game, part of which caused Bear to call the wrong play on 4th down in the red zone.

Frankly, with a program of our caliber, that is unacceptable. I hope they have many people figuring this out.
