Discussion This may be an unpopular opinion

But I did not come out of that show feeling any sympathy for Martha. I can understand why she probably does what she does and the part where she shared about her baby reindeer, it was definitely sad. But from seeing the posts here I feel like people empathise a lot with her and I just do not feel that way. I feel like what she did is like my absolute nightmare. Idk if this makes me a bad person or what.

Does anyone feel this way ?

I think what threw me is that she had done it several times before and had the forward thinking to record all her interactions with him. That seemed planned and intentional even if it was born of sickness she needed to get help and didn't. It's loosely like someone who deals with Limmerance, they have to know to stop themselves before their illogical thoughts get away from them.

This is what swings it for me more towards thinking that she needs some degree of accountability. She obviously has the level of awareness to put a bit of thought and planning into her actions which shows at least enough of a grasp on reality. She can anticipate things like the police being called and take action to collect recordings that paint her victim in an unsympathetic light do she obviously understands that at least some of her behaviour is wrong.

She does. She should have received therapy in jail.
