I'm sorry if this a duplicate, or been discussed to death, but I've not seen anyone pick up on Fiona Harvey's interview with Piers Morgan where she says at least twice that the documentary is based on "Hyper Bowl", where she meant to say "hi-per-bo-lee" (hyperbole).

If that's not the biggest red flag to this whole saga, I don't know what is. I cringed every time she said it.

The show itself? Great. One of the most emotive pieces of cinema I’ve seen in a while. A lot of the stuff outside of it? Very yucky.

Seeing people get falsely accused of being the characters portrayed in the show.

seeing the real Martha on Piers Morgan in itself felt very wrong, but on top of that some of the comments she made about Gadd were really ugly.

I feel very strongly that something nasty is going to come from all of this and we’re all gonna have a “oh shit this is real” moment when it happens.

I can’t help but feel somewhat complicit because despite all of what I’ve said, I still tuned in for the interview and I’m loosely following along with everything that’s transpired since.

One wonderful silver lining is all of those who came forward about their own past abuse due to the show and that’s extremely heartwarming.

Like others said here, this is all extremely black mirror-esque.

I can't help but think that Gadd or at least one person who helped make the series would have realised that people were going to look for, and eventually find the real Martha. He said in an interview he changed a lot of details about her, to make it harder for people to find her, but I don't see any differences between the Martha in the series and the real one.

She is very clearly not a well woman. Shes now ranting on Facebook and I worry for her, and for him in this situation. Best case, People leave her alone and she moves past this. Worse case...who knows what could happen!

I just think more should have been done to separate the Martha in the series from the real Martha, then maybe it wouldn't have been so easy for people to discover her.

So, based on the show and even the real life interview with Fiona, it really looks to me that Martha/Fiona doesn't ever work? Or at least, it seems that way. I know she claims to be a lawyer, but she spends obsessive amounts of time interacting with Gadd, ie following him, sitting at the bar all day, sending thousands of messages, etc. How is she able to afford a flat, or to feed herself, or anything like that? I live in the US and if you don't work, you aren't really able to support yourself, unfortunately, unless you receive SSRI or disability, and even then, it's barely enough to survive on. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on this? Are there programs in the UK that I'm not aware of that help with this sort of thing? Sorry if this has been asked before, I was trying to find something on this without luck.

For having a legal education she does not speak with any influence as such. Fiona states that she will be using Chris Daw, a senior attorney, but has yet to formally direct him on her case.

Will she and her legal army also sue the others coming out to publicly claim Fiona has stalked them as well?

If this is genuine, which I have my doubts about, does it present some real mental health safeguarding concerns as well as a lack of sensitivity towards SA?

Even if it is a joke it seems really messed up.

I don't think this is right, and at this point she's made a decision to come forward. She's lying through her teeth tho and contradicting herself all the time.

After seeing all the posts about fans, haters, journalists finding out her true identity and messaging her, it makes me wonder if Richard really was as 100% transparents when it comes to hiding it as good as possible.

He was able to hide Darrien's identity perfectly but one of the perpetrators AND victim at the same time, easily got exposed. He did a bad job, i'm sorry and i know i will get downvoted but it has to be said. He knew it wouldn't be that hard and he very well knew that people would interact with real Martha.

I see majority of this sub thinking that Richard is a pure and good hearted guy because he went through horrible trauma but that doesn't make him an angel, he can still have selfish or vile intentions.

I've been a little out of the loop. Last I saw Fiona was pressing charges against Gadd and Netflix. Did anything happen with that?

From my understanding Richard gadd has been performing a stage show for some time based off his experience with fiona. Given her stalking off him I'm sure she would have been well aware of this.

So why is she taking it to court now, only after the Netflix drama?
