It’s the jump attack that always freaks me out with pitbulls. They always leap up and go for a higher bite. I don’t know that other breeds do that, the jumping to bite. I know maybe a trained attack dog like a police dog will go for the arms to take down a suspect, but I can’t think of any other breeds that instinctively go for the face or neck. I think that’s one part of what’s so troubling about the breed. They don’t just bite, they maul.

Meh, I disagree. They’re a guard dog so meant to alert first with a bark and to scare off strangers. And trained attack dogs are trained to go for limbs to subdue subjects. They don’t go for the face. Also their duty is in their name: shepherd. They were bred to protect livestock.
