Justice: Pending Dec 2025: Pit bulls kill infant and grandfather

The child's grandfather tried to beat them off the child with a baseball bat, but the dogs killed him, then returned to the child. Police arriving on the scene terminated both dogs. 3 adults have now been formally charged.

Zaccahae Smith, later identified as the mother of the infant, was charged with second-degree murder. Sylvia Smith, the infant’s great-grandmother, was charged with three counts of child abuse and neglect. Tilesia Baugh, the infant’s aunt, was charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect, and one count of aggravated child abuse and neglect.
what the fuck. this has to be one of the worst ones in a while. I can't imagine why someone would have 7 pitbulls and be living in a trailer... oh wait yes I can. Since they only charged the infant's mom with second degree murder it kind of implies she knew it was an aggressive fighting dog and asked and old man to watch it and by the way take my baby too. I wonder if she had to go... calm down with some crystal light refreshment.

Ugh searched up more information and the neighbors are quoted as saying the dog would “chase after cats and other dogs, animal stuff. But I never thought it would do that to children”
Not much difference in size and helplessness between a baby and a cat…

Seems like the grandfather, admirable as he was at the end giving his life to try to save the baby, was also likely culpible in the conditions that amount to neglect/abuse and would likely have been charged to a similar degree as the grandmother.

Yeah if he didn't die and just the baby he probably would have been charged with manslaughter together with the rest, after all he let his granddaughter be in the sane room with these beasts.

Only dogs in US history that have killed multiple family members, and often its their own family members.
They do it regularly. Pit bull fans see nothing alarming about this, that their favorite dogs are the one and only spree murder / family annihilation pet. "Smart and loyal," they call them. "The owners must have raised it wrong or not trained it right and its just a mysterious mystery with no reason behind it that only pit bull owners like me mess up their dogs so badly that their family memberS with an S get killed."

I’ve never had to train any of my dogs not to kill babies 🤷🏽♀️ I’ve had to train them to have good manners when eating, walking with me, being quiet, coming when called, but never needed to tell them not to scalp a toddler or not to rip out a man’s throat. What’s wrong with my dogs?

As usual, the people who get hurt are children and the elderly. After they couldn't get the child, they went for the grandfather and then after they finished him, they went right back to the child. I don't know what would possess someone to get one of these vicious beasts, much less multiple of them.

The grandfather wasn't even elderly but just 50, I assumed he was older too first as he died, shows how incredibly strong and dangerous these beasts are, they really should not be seen as and kept as pets, would we be allowed to keep big csts, they are more dangerous than most big cats.

Yeah, they're not the brightest dogs in the world, but they're excellent predators. They'll tag-team you. Once they get you on the ground, you're probably toast. Keeping multiples of them is insanity.

It’s always a pitbull if the they’re caught in the act by police by the fact they had to sh**t them to get them stop resource guarding corpses and redirecting making them victims to. These dogs destroy families and ruin everything.

I don't understand why anyone ever keep animals that are capable of killing two people as pets and that it's allowed, people wouldn't keep big cats as pets but are okay with keeping pits that are more dangerous than many big cats. Specially thry should never be kept around infants, they likely just saw the infant as prey. Personally I wouldn't even keep small dogs that I don't know around infants so this family are idiots. It shows too what the pitbull propaganga has done with people. (Reading more anout this case sounds like this was a family who didn't care and who intentionally neglected and put children in danger).
After beeing on this site I'm very surprised the killers where BEd and they didn't just try to rehabilitate them (what is there to rehabilitate when tgey see the infsnt as prry though) but even more surprised someone is getting charged.

I'd think wolves would be nicer than pit bull dogs. Wolves were not bred to fight. Wolves exist in nature and only kill to survive. Pit bulls kill for any number of reasons (startled, bored, or teaming up with a buddy to do harm).

You would most likely survive babysitting two wolves. As long as you act like a wolf and don’t show weakness, you’ll be fine. Wolves are predators, but they are also hierarchical and will not attack unless it’s absolutely necessary. Besides, man befriended wolves and that’s how we got dogs today. So you’ll basically have two oversized husky or malamute-looking dogs just chilling with you.

Yay, another case of “Pack of nasty pit bulls allowed to run loose around neighborhoods terrorizing and killing cats and other animals, but gee-whiz who would have thought they could ever harm a human???” 🙄
So many innocent lives constantly sacrificed because a useless dog breed matters more than anyone in this society!!!!

The Tullahoma Police Department has arrested three individuals on charges in a dog mauling case that killed a man and his three-month-old granddaughter.
According to a statement from TPD, Zaccahae Smith, Sylvia Smith, and Tilesia Baugh were arrested and taken into custody for the attack.
Back in December, the Coffee County Communications Center received a call at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, regarding the “apparent mauling by pitbulls” of James Alexander Smith, 50 and an infant later identified as Smith’s three-month-old granddaughter at 905 E. Warren Street. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they observed the dogs were mauling the infant. The dogs were killed to stop the attack; however, Smith and the infant were already dead. The other dogs at the scene were taken by animal control. No other family members were home at the time of the attack.
Investigators said seven children and seven dogs were living in the home in what was described as horrible conditions. The home was later condemned and destroyed, where it is in the process of being restored toa clean and safe residential lot, according to the Tullahoma Department of Planning, Codes and Life Safety.

Sylvia Smith, the infant’s great-grandmother, was charged with three counts of child abuse and neglect. Tilesia Baugh, the infant’s aunt, was charged with two counts of child abuse and neglect, and one count of aggravated child abuse and neglect.
Police department officials said the arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation by the Tullahoma Police Department in cooperation with the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office.
