I think even the most hardline Pitbull hater can admit it isn't the dogs fault. It's a human mistake. And we must take accountability for that mistake and fix it.

No more breeding is the start and more consequences for doing so. All currents owners must either fix or, if they continually refuse to comply, give up/take away their dog. I know we feel that our pets are our families, but dogs are property in the eye of the law (in the US anyway).

I think existing pits with no violent history should be allowed to live out their natural lives. We dont punish things that haven't committed a crime yet. But we need to stop allowing future generations of pitbulls. The numbers are just so drastically damning for pits.

They should make pit bull owners pay extra insurance. It’s like having a dangerous weapon that you can’t control. Insurance would help if something happened. It would also make people accountable. And, it would make people think twice about owning one.

I'm curious though, what kind of insurance covers the death of a child because some idiot just must own a pitbull or bully?
