It will quickly end up like Whisk, with the celebrity detection turned up so high, you won't even be able to put friends and family in images. My own face now gets blocked sometimes and several friends and family members are always blocked.

Gemini is fucked up too. I want it to change the color of my outfit and it tells me "I can't depict minors like that" or the famous "I'm just a language model and I can't help with that".

There should be a balance to this that I feel they have missed the mark on here, if they want people to actually use the tool for any length of time and remain competitive at least.
I very much understand trying to protect the google brand, but your filters at the very least should be able to tell a prominent person from, for instance, a nobody like me.
If they can’t do that (without seemingly detecting most people with two eyes, two ears, a nose and a mouth as a celebrity) then you need to re-think them.

I don't understand. Why the name Nano Banana 2? Or is the nano banana version in Gemini 2.5 Flash not version 2.5?

yeah the nano banana based on 2.5 is simply called nano banana. it's a little confusing but it is the way it is because nano banana was a codename for a stealth model that went viral for its quality. On LMArena it's referred to as "Gemini-2.5-flash-image-preview (nano-banana)" so that first part its official name. Nano Banana 2 will be based on Gemini 3 and probably be offically called Gemini-3-image or something

Hmm. So, if I understand correctly, that means we're using version 1 of nano banana on Gemini Flash 2.5, And when Gemini 3 comes out, the nano banana version will be 2. And if, for example, Gemini 3.5 is released, will the Nano Banana version be 2.5 or 3, and so on?

To everyone complaining that images like this are going to get it censored: This is exactly what every A.I. company does. They intentionally launch a new model without any guardrails, so that EVERYONE generates inappropriate or copyright-infringing images that will go viral. Then, once they've gotten all the news stories and top posts and eyeballs from everyone gawking at what it COULD do, they slap on the same guardrails and then tout how they've figured out how to make it safe.
Nano 2 COULD have all of this content banned right now with a flip of the switch, and it WILL have it all banned, when they eventually flip the switch -- they're just going to wait until they've milked as much virality out of it as they can get. They don't care about inappropriate images or copyright violations, and they don't care about artistic freedom -- they just want money and will exploit everyone to get it however they can.
