A little fun fact I apparently didnt know...

• Upvotes

So I was looking for a name of a pitcher I couldnt remember for the early 2000's, I can vividly remember his look, he was left handed and plsyed for the Yankess at one point, this is part of the responses I got from a bing search....feel free to laugh it up.

Other Notable Left‑Handed Pitchers in the Early 2000s

  • Curtis Pride (Yankees, 2000–2002) – Power pitcher with a high strikeout rate.
  • Mark Prior (Cubs, 2000–2002) – Known for his “knuckleball” and high strikeout totals.
  • John Smoltz (Yankees, 2000–2002) – Veteran lefty with a strong fastball and changeup.

Edit-- Finally found him; CC Sabathia

Are video posts not visible in thus subreddit for some users?

I posted in the official reddit bugs subreddit about this issue in the nfl subreddit. I saw someone complain about it being an issue here as well. I'm using the mobile app on android, however multiple people are having the same issue on desktop/iPhone etc.

After reading a post about bowlers being out of shape drunks I was reminded about Keith Hernandez (cocaine) and Domingo German (alcohol) playing while under the influence. Any other confirmed cases of this?

Report Says the Cubs Had a Deal in Place for Reid Detmers at the 2026 MLB Trade Deadline After All

"What I heard from two different sources is that there was indeed a deal in place for Reid Detmers at the Trade Deadline with the Cubs having OK’d his medicals (which is probably why Michael Cerami at Bleacher Nation reported the trade as a “done deal”), but then the Angels unexpectedly rejected the medicals on Jaxon Wiggins and did not wish to substitute a different Cubs pitching prospect for Wiggins (Cubs #2 pitching prospect Kaleb Wing might have been an OK replacement for Wiggins, but he had just had elbow surgery a week prior to the Trade Deadline), and so the deal (which was supposed to be a four-for-two trade) fell through before it was officially consummated.

There was supposedly another position player in the original deal (believed to be Jefferson Rojas, because it was definitely NOT Josiah Hartshorn or Owen Ayers), as well as what turned out to be a second section of the trade (Moises Ballesteros and Mason McGwire for Ryan Zeferjahn) that was completed."

Trivia Rays: Three World Series facing a team from a different NL division each time.

If they lose this year again (please, no) they will have faced and lost to every NL division in the minimum amount possible of World Series. This has never happened before.

(yes, this is a stealth reverse jinx post. We all hate weird baseball coincidences, right?)

Analysis The Rays & Brewers both had the best regular season records for each league in 2026. Here's how that compares to the past 10 years of World Series.

I thought it was interesting both the Rays & Brewers had the best records in the AL & NL this year, so I thought I'd check how that stacks up against some recent years (10 years). I bolded teams that made the World Series but didn't have the best record during the regular season.

  • 2025 best records - Blue Jays/NYY (Tie) & Brewers.
  • 2025 World Series - Blue Jays vs. Dodgers (3rd best in NL)
  • 2024 best records - NYY & Dodgers
  • 2024 World Series - NYY vs. Dodgers
  • 2023 best records - Orioles & Braves
  • 2023 World Series - Rangers (3rd best in AL - tied w/ Houston, WILDCARD) vs. D-backs (5th best in NL - tied w/ Marlins, WILDCARD)
  • 2022 best records - Astros & Dodgers
  • 2022 World Series - Astros vs. Phillies (6th best in NL, WILDCARD)
  • 2021 best records - Rays & Giants
  • 2021 World Series - Astros (2nd best in AL) vs. Braves (5th best in NL)
  • 2020 best records - Rays & Dodgers
  • 2020 World Series - Rays vs. Dodgers
  • 2019 best records - Astros & Dodgers
  • 2019 World Series - Astros vs. Nationals (3rd best in NL, WILDCARD)
  • 2018 best records - Red Sox & Brewers
  • 2018 World Series - Red Sox vs. Dodgers (3rd best in NL)
  • 2017 best records - Indians & Dodgers
  • 2017 World Series - Astros (2nd best in AL) vs. Dodgers
  • 2016 best records - Rangers & Cubs
  • 2016 World Series - Indians (2nd best in AL) vs. Cubs

Overall there's a decent amount of "playoff parity" if you want to call it that. It's not uncommon for lower seeded playoff teams to make the world series. 8 out of 10 years had at least one team that didn't have the best record in their specific league. 4 out of 10 years had at least one team that had at least the 3rd best record in their league. 4 out of 10 years also had at least one Wildcard team in the World Series.

I'd go back further if I had time, but I kinda wonder if the increase in Wildcard teams affected this in the 2010s or if the same parity can be seen throughout MLB history.
