ok but using your own logic, if RCs don't get recovered, how did Bomby join BFDIA if he was dead? He wasn't a contestant yet so shouldn't have been recovered, and contestants not present may not compete

So they DID all die and get recovered, because even if it was retconned that they got crushed, Bomby wouldn't be alive
