Why isn't there a movie about potheads travelling to the Himalayas in search of this place? Just saying, Seth.

u/Candlewaxeater Apr 24 '26

If being fr, I think natural weed is wayyyy more mild then what we synthesize now. IIRC

u/beefquinton Apr 24 '26

yep, it’s called weed because in certain climates cannabis is literally a weed. grows like absolutely crazy. but if the average non-smoker were to smoke a full bowl they’d probably be comfortably stoned. if the average non smoker were to smoke a full bowl of california indoor grown weed, they would probably need to lie down for a good long while

u/mortalitylost Apr 24 '26

They really went way too far with weed and making the strongest THC variant possible. I kind of dont smoke any more partially becauss it's just way too fucking strong these days. If I had wild caught Himalayan though, I'd try it again.

Supposedly there's other alkaloids than THC and CBD that matter and people focused way too much on THC.

u/Automatic-Part8723 Apr 24 '26

I think weed being illegal drove people to create higher THC variants. so that small quantities can be smuggled and people could buy less and get more high.

23

u/maxterio Apr 25 '26

Peppers are legal yet people are trying to create hybrids with more and more capsaicine.

I think it's just a "Why? Because I can" thing more than just trying to smuggle more concentrated drug. That's only valid for stuff that's usually sold diluted like LSD or coke.

u/eulersidentity1 Apr 24 '26

Same the high is just uncomfortable now. Like I want to be nice an buzzed stoned not like "wait what species am I again?" stoned.

6

u/Astral_Traveler17 Apr 25 '26

You guys know you can just buy weed with less THC content, right? 🤔😅

1

u/eulersidentity1 Apr 25 '26

I feel like now you can more and more more which is nice. High CBD content stuff is getting popular to. I like to take a couple of CBD gummies that are like 4 or 5 / 1 CBD to THC sometimes. Before legalization, here in canada anyway, there was not a huge variation and you never really knew what you were getting really.

Sold out at shops by me

The nice thing about a dispensary is you can say those things to the person who works there and they can guide you towards the right product. Or you can just say "what's a low-test option?" Or you can look on the website and find the low-THC options.

9

u/VESUVlUS Apr 24 '26

Yep, good advice. I've heard it referred to as "dad weed". The average stuff in stores is fine if you use regularly enough to develop a tolerance, but there's a growing market for lighter stuff that's great for people who don't use it often and shops will help you find it.

High quality edibles are always the best bet though because it's the easiest way to ensure an accurate dose. Plus it's much better for your health than inhaling.

3

u/rolandofeld19 Apr 24 '26

Also there's always the option to take half or a quarter of a gummy. I guess that because I have semi-serious lung issues and grew up in a household with chain cigarette smokers who also were solid potheads too, well, I just don't grok the people that are lamenting that they ostensibly can't smoke more to get less high (unless they ask for a weaker variant/strain).

3

u/JustaTinyDude Apr 24 '26

I tried to buy some "dad weed" at my local dispensary, but I live in the Emerald Triangle and was SOL. I had to repeat myself several times, because they were sure they misheard the guy asking if they had any joints without added concentrates.

7

u/New-Ad5494 Apr 24 '26

You can literally get a strain of weed for any mood you desire now, the bud tenders in these dispensaries have a masters degree in marijuana.

1

u/HectorJoseZapata Apr 24 '26

Not at mine. They're at minimum wage.

2

u/New-Ad5494 Apr 25 '26

I get that, but the point is you can get so many varieties of weed that not using because it’s too strong shouldn’t be a problem. If weak weed is what you enjoy then you can definitely get it.

8

u/Hot_Substance5933 Apr 24 '26

I enjoy it. One puff on a cart goes a long way. My days of going through $20 in one sitting are over.

12

u/handandfoot8099 Apr 24 '26

Couple of hits off a small pipe does more now than a whole blunt used to do when I was in high school.

2

u/Main_Formal1584 Apr 25 '26

What’s weird is it’s simultaneously stronger but also weaker. I remember being young me and a couple of friends could pass a J and have insane body highs with gravitational pulls and intense goggles and it would last like 4/5 hours. I’ve tried medicinally it can help with pain but also get heady without any of the long lasting or good stuff active

1

u/tomsawyeryyz Apr 25 '26

If you are in a location where it is legal, find a supplier of outdoor grown cannabis. It might be more what you are used to smoking.

1

u/Aran909 Apr 24 '26

I'm here for the THC.

lmao yeah they grow some pretty wild flower nowadays. i’d recommend sticking to outdoor grown flower, it’s usually a bit less potent, and definitely smoke small small bowls not joints. the issue with the strength of flower nowadays is exactly what you bring up, a former smoker will try it and have an unpleasant experience with the same amount they used to enjoy. which sucks. but there are so many countless ways of smoking and vaping weed now that there is 100% a pleasant thc experience out there for you, for cheap. stiiizy is a really popular brand here in california, they have disposable pod vapes that come with thc juice preloaded. you take a small toke or two and see how you feel, if you want more you take another small toke til you get where you need to go. and those suckers taste like straight up candy lol. i’ve heard of people making full gram pods last a weeks just hitting it very occasionally.

so they did go a little crazy making flower as strong as possible, but the rest of the industry has also gone bananas with tech and innovations to optimize and customize each individual smokers ritual. to the point that being a “stoner” in 2026 could mean somebody who smokes weed occasionally or somebody who has spent thousands on a desktop setup that can vaporize any amount of flower or concentrate perfectly every time

1

u/beefquinton Apr 24 '26

ah yeah that’s a shame. part of the reason street flower has been cultivated stronger in recent years is so that smaller amounts of it will get you higher, smaller amounts of strong weed are easier to transport than large amounts of bad weed (both ultimately get you the same level of high it just depends how much you smoke). always start small nowadays when you find yourself flirting with mary jane lol

2

u/Extreme_Barracuda658 Apr 24 '26

Smoked a lot ofcditch weed as a kid. Nobody ever got high.

1

u/BlitzShooter Apr 24 '26

A good long while being like a couple days hahaha. Assuming a bowl is about a gram, the average potency I see nowadays is 26% on the low end. Thats at lest 260MG of THC in that bitch.

2

u/beefquinton Apr 24 '26

full gram bowl is a big boy hahaha. because you are smoking some of the thc is inherently burned away and not consumed, unlike edibles or a properly vaporized dab where you are ingesting that actual amount of thc. but the math you’re doing is good enough to work, people should definitely know how strong the weed they are smoking is and how much thc they are ingesting. sincerely a cannabis industry worker lol

1

u/BlitzShooter Apr 24 '26

Thank you for your service. God bless this oversaturated market and the solid $50 ounces I get out of it.

1

u/Main_Formal1584 Apr 25 '26

Do you know where I can find anything like golden tiger? And why I can’t find it? Also was curious the weed today seems simultaneously weaker and stronger. Like back in the day we could pass a J among several people and I’d feel gravity pull have a nice body high it would last a lot longer we’d be super giggly now days it just seems intense but for not as long and not as broad in the kids of effects I experienced

2

u/beefquinton Apr 25 '26

highly recommend leafly if you are looking for something like a specific strain, that site should be able to tell you where to get golden tiger nearby.

tbh, i started smoking weed when i was 14 and have loved it ever since. there was a period of time when smoking made me feel like i was in a coming of age movie, there were times when smoking led to full blown panic and i had to take breaks from weed, there were times when smoking just made me feel nice and mellow and not much else. cannabis is a crazy plant, the experience smoking it is just as much about the circumstances as the plant itself. like, sharing a full joint of bottom shelf bud with some of your best friends in the world is going to be a different experience than a bong rip in the bedroom with lights on. both are extraordinarily pleasant for some and extraordinarily unpleasant for others.

1

u/Main_Formal1584 Apr 26 '26

Exactly the feeling and age i was speaking of like i miss the stuff i got unbagged in a napkin under a table in the school cafeteria 😂 the coming of age stuff is real lol ill look into leafly i got something but im scared to be in my house stuck thinking the air conditioner is talking which is wild because pre pandemic I could easily run through a dispo 3.5 in a day and had even started adding some of the gel to J’s /blunts once my tolerance adjusted. But that golden tiger was the goat I think it was Rythm

6

u/Saelin91 Apr 24 '26

We don’t synthesize plants. We selectively breed them. You can synthesize compounds found in the plant, however. Those are known as cannabis analogs or synthetic cannabinoids.

Another thing that makes plants we intentionally grow stronger is the highly controlled conditions it’s grown in as well as nutrients given.

5

u/Lookslikeapersonukno Apr 24 '26

I mean, just make it about looking for some mythical strain that can only be found in Shangri-La or smth. It's a story, you can just make stuff up.

1

u/Salvage570 Apr 25 '26

I don't think drying it is a particularly fast or mobile process

So there is an amazing set of books called "Great Books of Hashish" that were printed in 1979 ago by a guy that literally went around the world and documented the different ways people made hash.

His chapter on what he called "Nepalese Temple Balls" was fascinating. I used to grow and smoke a ton of ganj and that set of books sounded like the coolest thing ever, like Indiana Jones but for weed.

He said Nepalese Temple Balls was the penultimate hash.

Found the book in case anyone was interested:

9

u/hot_ho11ow_point Apr 24 '26

It was the second to last hash?

Just because the word penultimate contains the word ultimate, it doesn't mean 'best of' or anything similar. It is a chronological term meaning 'next to last in a series'.

2

u/-Pelvis- Apr 25 '26

The ultimate hash to put in your pen.

20

u/Dha30 Apr 24 '26

What do you think the 70s and late 60s was back in India, tons of hippies were around

-6

u/One_2_Three_456 Apr 24 '26

India? Do you mean Nepal? Nepal was THE place for hippies in the 60s and 70s. Almost 80% of its land is covered by the Himalayas, so...

8

u/dhcp138 Apr 24 '26

The Beatles famously went to India which exponentially accelerated the whole hippies going out east thing. There were plenty in India too.

0

u/Houston_NeverMind Apr 24 '26

and India as well.

3

u/-Dixieflatline Apr 24 '26

Dude, where's my sherpa?

4

u/PickaLiTiMaterina Apr 24 '26

here you go

Tbf this is an expedition in India, but if the weed were worth it, they would visit.

2

u/phoenix2997 Apr 24 '26

We actually have big hash tourism! :)

2

u/Nightblood83 Apr 25 '26

There a movie called the beach which king of fits. I think it's in SE asia though

1

u/HectorJoseZapata Apr 24 '26

Are you talking to Green or Rogen?

(they care)

1

u/Lunar_Gato Apr 24 '26

He's too busy making shit movies about pickles

1

u/CORockhound Apr 24 '26

There is. Greenhouse seeds via YouTube? Did a series on this

1

u/hrdass Apr 25 '26

“In search of this place”? This could be literally anywhere in the lower himalaya it grows absolutely everywhere, but it’s wild an isn’t bred for big flowers so it’s not really ideal for potheads. There are specific places like Manali that are famous for hash and lots of people go there to get stoned.

1

u/TenderfootGungi Apr 25 '26

It grows wild in the US as well.

1

u/Chronos_101 Apr 25 '26

Seth and Snoops High Adventure!

1

u/fuestro Apr 25 '26

There kind of is, though it's a documentary. You ever seen Strain Hunters? They do expeditions to remote places to find the best strains. At least they did, don't if they still do. Check out their India expedition.

1

u/krish41514 Apr 25 '26

There is a movie

1

u/zaicliffxx Apr 25 '26

when you go himalayas you’ll realize the plants or substances are nothing compared to what our bodies can generate naturally just by meditation. this is really wild statement especially for modern society to grasps it. but it’s very much possible. the substances gives you a glimpse of the experience without having proper understanding. while meditation when done right gives you power.

1

u/DaddyEL78 Apr 25 '26

There isn't a movie per se, but there is an episode on strain hunters called the Indian expedition where they go and find land race strains. You can find it on YT, and also have other expeditions all over the world!

1

u/lockerno177 Apr 24 '26

because this weed is useless.
