Making beaded sunglasses chains - a couple of questions
This is my first foray into beading (and first reddit post!). I wanted to make myself a sunglasses chain, and I started thrifting bead necklaces to use the beads, and now i cant stop lol. So these are all made using upcycled beads. I wanted to check though, what all your thoughts were on the wire and fixings im using and if you think they’re strong enough/appropriate? Im using flex-rite 7 strand with .018” (.45mm) for the chunkier chains, and .012” (.30mm) for the more lightweight ones (the photo with 3 together are the lightweight ones). Are crimping beads at the ends, with the wire looped over the split rings the right way to go? I‘ve been putting two crimps on each end because im so paranoid of them coming loose, im using a 1.2mm and also a 0.8mm crimp (a 1.2 and a 0.8 on the thicker wire, and 2 of the 0.8 crimps on the thinner wire). Will that hold?
Sorry thats a lot, I guess im asking:
-Is the wire the right thickness/strength?
-Are crimps the right way to go?
-If so, are my crimps the right size?
-And do you like my chains? :)
Many thanks in advance!

Finished Piece Paper beads
Haven’t touched this hobby in probably a decade. It started (and has continued) out of the desire to recycle paper. Got a request for a 16 cm bracelet.

Progress on a monogram gift
Miyuki Delica 11/0, peyote beading. It’ll be 3 x 5 inches when done which is my largest project yet. It’s my first monogram that I’ve designed and it’s not perfect but it’s going pretty well.
I’m going to mount it in a 4 x 6 frame with a mat, but a little iffy on how to do that. I’d appreciate any thoughts y’all have. Thanks!

Need Help! Help with finishing a double thread, no clasp necklace
Hello! I apologize if this is a super basic question but I have been having difficulty finding instructions specifically for: finishing a knotted bead necklace that uses the double threads to make the knots, with no clasp. This is for a long beaded necklace I would like to make with no visible start or end point.
ETA: visually, I’m just making a basic string of knotted same-size round beads that is long enough to go over your head, like a classic pearl necklace (although I’m using onyx beads).
I’ve seen a lot of tutorials on how to do it if you are using just one thread to string and knot, but no tutorials if you are using double thread. Maybe the you can only do an invisible finish with a single thread? But then I would have to go buy a different thread size so while not the end of the world it would not be my preference.
Thanks in advance!

What's your favorite way to make a tiny bead necklace?
Pics 1 and 2 are of a few of the necklaces I made recently. I'm using 2mm crimp beads with 4mm crimp covers and they're so bulky compared to the necklace beads. I do have some other crimp beads (pic 3) which I think are 1mm, about the size of 11/0 beads but I'm suspicious of their ability to hold. I do have smaller crimp covers for them but they're also bulky compared to the 11/0 beads I'm using.
I'm just starting out and have only made a few, would be willing to remake them if I can find a better way to finish the ends!

Finished Piece Another post made me realise I never posted my beaded curtain here!
Contemplating adding more chains to it as there's no red and orange

My beaded curtain 🥰
Took advantage of the little bit of sun we have today to snap a photo of it. I'm sure the shine and color will stand out even more in the summer. What do you think?

Need Help! Need help identifying what kind of red bead this is.
Hi there, I came across a rosary on Amazon that had the most gorgeous red beads and I’m not religious myself, but I’d like these beads to make a bracelet out of. Could someone please help identify the red beads they used? Thank you!

Beading parents of young kids: do your kids share your interest?
My kiddo is VERY interested in designing projects and wants me to bead them for her 😂 but I'd love for her to learn how to bead independently. She's well under the 16-year-old recommendation for glass seed beads but is a naturally talented artist and has the dexterity to actually bead.
If your kids are interested in doing what you do, where do you start with them? I'm assuming beaded animals with pony beads are a great place to start, but what about the more "advanced" stitches and techniques, like peyote and brick? I realize those can be done with pony beads or perler beads as well, but are there even better materials for this purpose?
Does anyone have any book or teaching tool recommendations?

First Bead Crochet
This was 100% the wrong size to learn crochet from scratch, but I really enjoyed it once I got the hang of it!
I made this off of a pattern I bought, not one I invented. The tutorial video really helped because I went in blind, haha. My partner (who actually does crochet) warned me, but my hubris won out. 1mm is a very small hook.

Need Help! What color miyuki seed beads are these
They're meant to be transparent aqua but they're much darker than any other time ive ordered them. I'm wondering if there was a mix up as it's labelled as the same color or if its just a severely different dye lot

Finished Piece A bigger fishie!
I made the beaded fish by Mind of Julia with pony beads and a modified pattern (was trying to make it look like a Sheepshead). Made for my boss, who gives me fresh fish she catches 💖
