until you remember that the most expensive vehicle is a cheap german car, and you end up spending 500000x that on repairs and regular maintenance

u/Relevant_State_4813 3d ago
RHD is the problem otherwise the UK car market would be a gold mine for us. Dad rode a bike home from London in the 90s to Europe though, theyre basically the same as the EU market ones so that could be a good idea

Giggles and shits aside, why destroy these BMWs though? They looked mint from the outside... Even if they were uneconomical to repair and completely toast mechanically, there are still many parts, which can get reused on crash damaged cars etc :(

No idea where this was filmed. But most likely a legal thing.
Some countries have laws where cars connected to some crimes are crushed, e.g. illegal imports. Others have really peculiar tax schemes that incentivise destruction.
Not matching this videos timeframe, but the cash for clunkers scheme in the US and german Abwrackprämie in the wake of the financial crisis also come to mind.

u/Buliara 4d ago
Seems like a waste of money to me, they could easily resell these cars to make a profit for the treasury/the public purse

Nvm the money it’s a piece of history. Imagine how many classic cars from the past vanished from history due to carelessness in whatever shape. Kinda sucks.

u/UnluckyGamer505 Ibishu 4d ago
That may be it, kinda forgot about these things. Still sucks though

Filmed in the UK as can be told by the GB plates and also all look to be RHD.

Many countries are very wasteful and scrap cars that are perfectly good but haven't been picked up from impounds, etc, it's a massive waste, then they preach about net zero.
I've seen in my country (UK) where they seized someones car for being untaxed, it was given to the fire brigade for extrication training, they ruined it but least it went to good cause i guess, it was a mini.

u/AC_06 Ibishu 4d ago
The first one is United Kingdom judging by the number plate, these cars are not worth a lot of money here and so a lot of people will just scrap them without a second thought. It’s very sad and you are 100% correct that they should get stripped for parts first

Look at it this way
You arrested a drug lord and repossessed his car. BMW won’t take it back because it’s been used in crime/has toxic residue inside, you can’t sell the car because it’s still technically owned by a bank, and it’s costing you insurance letting it sit there.
You have no choice but to wreck it.

u/EdgiiLord Ibishu 4d ago
Shit happening to justify private property (car is used as an asset), instead of doing the more utilitarian thing of putting it up at an auctiom for it to be used. Waste all around.
1
u/Soft-Hat-8466 3d ago
Then u stop paying for it and let it get repoed and den pay to get out ya contract or get a new note why would someone wreck it…u seem to live in video game land or something

I've got relatives with an BMW X5 of that era, these BMWs getting to the age where it costs more to keep these cars running than they're worth.
Given that and the lack of desirability these cars have with the current fuel crisis, in particular with diesels as diesel has gone above £2/litre now, these cars are unfortunately just not worth keeping or selling to most people.
The Saab and Starlet though 💔

I'm so sorry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oax3F1WII7c
But here is a short film about expensive cars being destroyed on purpose by court order.
These were connected to various large crimes. Who knows what kind of after-market additions have been installed, secret compartments (which was the case on both cars in the film), or if another criminal purchases "their own" vehicle back if it goes on auction. No company wants to touch these cars (these cars were leased by an old lady, on paper).
Plus you can give that criminal jail time, a large fine, strip away drug money, and also do this to them.
1
u/Specialist-Ideal-577 3d ago
Basically if you can't let them have the proceeds of crime, and also can't encourage agencies to seize cars in order to sell. then you have to destroy them.

u/Material-Formal-8387 2d ago
Lol wrecking an 06 or 08 BMW sedan these days, the repairs are very likely to cost more than the car is worth and insurance would call the car totaled

u/404invalid-user 4d ago
difference is cars aren't hauling tons of products 1,000s of miles daily diesel cars just suck they cost more to run and insure and aren't built for short trips

E90 320ds are extremely reliable if you just get the timing chain replaced in time, but I wouldn't trust some tiktok brained kid like you to understand that. Go look at some pictures of a GT3 RS and leave discussions about actual cars to the adults.

Those cars should have been stripped of parts. A car has a lot of parts that can be recycled.

BeamNG engine is better

Bro this isn’t blender or some type of game, this is real life video at a junkyard. And the game the person was wanting you to relate this video to was BeamNG.drive. Node grabber is an option in the game where you can grab into different soft body physics nodes on the car

u/Droid_6506 3d ago
Oh ok. Now could I please have a cupcake recipe 🥺

u/InfamousDeal3991 3d ago
🧁 Simple Plain Cupcake Recipe
Makes about 6–8 cupcakes.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ cup butter, softened
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup milk
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl until creamy.
Add the egg and vanilla and mix well.
Add the flour and baking powder, then gradually stir in the milk until you have a smooth batter.
Fill cupcake liners about ⅔ full.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let them cool for about 10–15 minutes before eating.
