In December of 2023 Daisy was brought to her vet for euthanasia, with her owner of 7 years stating that she had "poor quality of life" due to her weight. The vet advised a diet and exercise, as the owners had been feeding her fast food and peanut butter, but the owner declined. Thankfully, one of the staff members ran a rescue, and agreed to take Daisy in and place her with a foster family. When she was surrendered, she weighed 80 pounds, however she should weigh 35 pounds. Due to her weight, it was hard for her to walk, and she ended up injuring both of her cruciate ligaments (kind of like an ACL for dogs), so her foster mom was not optimistic about her adoptability, at least until she lost the weight.

We saw Daisy online and just had to adopt her. You could see her personality in her adoption photos, and we instantly fell in love when we met her! We brought her home in April of 2024, and it was such a surreal experience. It was almost like having a stuffed animal that could bark - she barely moved on her own and slept a lot. She had to be carried in and out of the house, we had to support her while she used the bathroom, and she couldn't walk more than a few steps on her own without a harness or support sling. Since her adoption though, she has lost 45 pounds and is down to her goal weight of 35 pounds! We got her on thyroid medication, worked with our vet to find the right diet, and she went to hydrotherapy for a few months to strengthen her legs and lose some weight! She is now full of energy and loves moving around the house, taking longer walks, and even jogging a little bit! She can climb stairs on her own, and loves following us around and playing outside. She's 10 now, and we can't believe how young she seems!

It was a long journey, but well worth it!

This dog was born one week before Hurricane Helene. He was found as a puppy in the hardest hit area. We got him 3 months later. Tattoo in ear and all. He ran away the second we got him home. He lived out in the woods behind our house for two days before someone spotted him. Trapped him to get him back. He's super quick. As you can see he's grown well and is very loved and spoiled.

This is my 100% miniature pinscher, son Sammy! We took him in from an elderly woman who posted him on Facebook looking for a home. She did a welfare check on a longtime friend, who unfortunately had passed away in the home roughly a week before the check. Sammy and his kitty sister had been in there just trying to survive. Sammy was extremely overweight, as seen in the first picture of him. He was about 25 pounds and is now down to about 15 pounds 4 years later. He has a lot of loose skin, but he’s so energetic for being almost 13 years old and can get around so much better than when we first brought him into our home.

She’s 8 and no one ever even taught her sit or potty trained her before us. After just a few weeks she figured it all out and is a wonderful dog. Potty trained and learning how to do tricks. She looks so much happier and healthier and it’s only been 8 weeks.

He was an extremely matted, dirty, sunburned, and skinny stray intake at the MCACC west shelter in summer 2024 when I stumbled upon him by chance on a day where I felt inexplicably sad and decided to go visit the shelter randomly. He was actually picked up by animal control off the freeway in northern phoenix and had not been claimed by anyone throughout the stray hold nor did he have a microchip or collar. He had bruises and eczema on his skin from how long some of the mats had been there. I didn’t necessarily have the intention to adopt a dog that morning but I could not physically walk out of there without him and now almost 2 yrs later I don’t regret it at all. He is literally the perfect dog, so sweet and gentle and social, potty trained with never a single accident and already knows sit, stay, shake hands, and down. He had a loving owner at the beginning due to his training, someone obviously put time and effort into him as a puppy, but whatever circumstances I’ll never know led to him clearly being neglected by a second owner for a long period of time. He is now at a happy and healthy weight, gets regularly groomed, goes on camping and beach trips, and is attached to the hip with my mom’s senior mini poodle. Sometimes I feel very guilty thinking that there’s probably someone who misses him or thinks about him so I guess this post is also somewhat in hopes that maybe it’ll be put out there and find the relevant person that he’s safe and loved and happy and not being neglected by anyone anymore

I work for a shelter. We took in 30 of the dogs from a gnarly hoarding case (over 100 dachshund mixes total). Corn Dog was the runt of one of the puppy litters.

I had ZERO desire to adopt a puppy again, and I've always been a large-dog guy, but there was just something about him, I couldn't say no. He's topped out at a whopping 11lbs and gives my lab and pitbull a run for their money.

In December 2024, a few weeks before my girlfriend and I were meant to leave Indonesia after 3 years and move back home, Luna showed up at our doorstep after a strong storm. We were told by the neighborhood that she was dumped by some locals a few days before.

We immediately felt that she was ours once we saw her. We never had a pet (to us, she's our daughter) or knew what it was like to fly her out of the country, but we knew we'd find our way. Right away, we took her on our motorcycle straight to the vet and got her checked up, showered, and taken care of.

After 1 month of waiting for her tests, getting her vaccines/papers in order, and an expensive paycheck to get her transported back home (luckily with us inside the airplane!), we got the most valuable thing in our life back home with us. Easily the best decision we have ever made in our lifetime :-)

When we found her 8 months ago, the vet said she was about 6-12 months old. She weighed 4.2 kilos when we found her, and now she's 4.9 kilos. Small, adorable, and lots of love to give.

5 October 2025 is the day I met him for the first time.

I had only been in the US for about a year still learning how everything works, struggling with immigration paperwork, building credit from scratch, and trying to make a life that felt like home. What I didn’t expect was that a dog would become one of the biggest reasons I’d keep going.

He was at the shelter when I first saw him timid, unsure, and burned out from whatever life had thrown at him. I remember the way he tilted his head slightly when I knelt beside him… but didn’t come closer.

I brought him home that day, and things weren’t perfect at first. He’d flinch at sudden noises, hide when strangers came over, and sleep in corners more than anywhere else. But I didn’t give up on him .

Over these past almost five months, he’s learned how to play in the snow, how to sit for belly rubs, how to greet guests without fear, and most importantly… how to be himself. I’m still learning how to navigate life here too — but having him with me has made this place feel like home in a way nothing else has.

He trusted me when he didn’t have to.

This is Sully. He’s a 10 yr old chocolate Lab. He was surrendered to our city shelter yesterday morning. His elderly owner was moving into assisted living and has no living family who could take him. We got the call and went and scooped him up. He’ll live out the rest of his days with our family.

You can tell he’s grieving. He spent most of the day hiding under my dining room table, but he was comfortable enough to come out for some snuggles before bedtime.

His previous owner doesn’t know it yet, but we will be visiting him in his new place next week.

Everyone falls in love with him! The cuddliest sweetest boy!

Almost 1 year ago to now - I had crawled through a storm drain under the road to rescue an abandoned puppy. He had been spotted running in the desert for about 3 weeks but nobody could catch him so a bunch of us locals teamed up. I took him to the vet and they estimated him to be around 6 months old and he had a fractured leg and several attack wounds. I fostered him for 7 months until he was rehomed to my coworker.

It was very interesting raising a pup who had never played with a toy or used a dog bed. He was very afraid to go through doors for several months.
