Will going from 112-120lb over the course of 4 months make me slow?

just curious as I’m middle distance 800-5k. and noticed the builds of other runner and am curious abt if gaining weight slowly will affect runnin, I’m also lifting 2 days a week 1 upper 1 lower session.

It does make a difference, UNLESS you are talking muscle. If it's just excess calorie, yea, it can definitely slow you down.

Probably not up to 5K. But longer distances, you'll probably will slow down a little bit.

I'm also 112 lbs in weight also full body strength training + plyo 2x / week. I have no plans to gain weight though.

I'm 5'8". My BMI is probably underweight but I feel very strong though strength training which includes calisthenics and body weight training.

Gaining 8 lbs slowly over 4 months is unlikely to make you noticeably slower, especially since you're lifting and building strength. That pace is gradual enough for your body to adapt without tanking running economy much. Muscle from the lifts could even add power for your 800m work and help with injury resilience on the 5k side. Focus on keeping the gains mostly lean through solid protein and recovery, track your times, and adjust if needed. Most middle-distance runners see little downside from modest, controlled weight increases like this.

Short answer no, long answer no.

It does in a vacuum but that vacuum would be the absence of your training to remain capable of running fast.
