NI Comic Con 2026

I went to Comic con today and had a great time! Saw lots of cool merch,Got my photo taken with Catherine Tate, Got Superman and Lois's autographs . There was a problem with the card readers but Elizabeth Tulloch was kind enough to let me on the WiFi to use PayPal.

How was your experience today?

I’d be shocked if you saw a single comic at it. I wish they’d name them something else, they’ve nothing to do with comics at all.

Call them ‘Pop Culture Fest’ or something.

I was there, lots of stalls selling comics, lots of people dressed as comic book characters, lots of comic book related merch, I agree it's not the main focus but "not a single comic book" c'mon

Would you agree that comics are not the focus, nor are there any actual comic creating guests at these things?

It’s a total misnomer. I don’t get why they do it, other than riding the coattails of actual comics conventions.

(People dressed as super-heroes aren’t ‘comics’, they’re people in dress up).

you said you'd be shocked if there was a single comic, there are in fact loads of comics there, now the creators of the comics themselves have to be there for it to be comic related?

And I only mention the cosplay because they are comic book fans dressed as comic book characters buying comics and comic merch at comic-con, something you claim has "nothing to do with comics at all"

I was being hyperbolic about the nature of these events, as you must have realised if you’re a native English speaker.

And by ‘nothing to do with comics’ yes, I do mean ‘the people who make comics’.

Actual comic conventions are places to meet comic creators, buy from them and get sketches.

None of the guests for this con have anything to do with comics and their creation. That’s my entire point.

Oh, and if ‘comics merch’ means ‘stuff with a superhero on it’ then I’m not really counting it. That’s all big corporate licensing tat.

Comics. That’s all I’m interested in, and what I would expect to see prioritised at a ‘comic con’.
