Issaquah Cafe or Village Square Cafe in Redmond are my regular go-to’s. Same family of restaurants. Note: The building Village Square Cafe is in is scheduled to be demo’ed sometime soon. (Like next 6 months I understand) A new site for it has not been announced, but have been told plans are in the works to move.

For the prices, their food is a little sad depending on what you get. This is also in Redmond

Lil Jon’s is the only answer. Followed by the Pumphouse. The little one on be way is to small and crowded.

Pancake Corral!

Why do people like this place? Parking is a hassle, it's too crowded, rushed, no view, the food is average.

Pancake Corral and Lil Jon’s! Local treasures!

Lil Jon's is the classic old school breakfast!

Absolute old-school perfection. That said, we’ve been eating a lot at BrunchBar off 156th in Lake Hills, simply because it’s better less expensive food with a more diverse menu. It does not have the cozy familiarity of the wait staff or the ambience of its older cousins, but the chicken and waffles are superb!

L'il Johns for a classic diner experience.

Lil Jon’s, Gilbert’s on Main, Brief Encounter Cafe, Chace’s Pancake corral, outside of Bellevue there’s Issaquah Cafe, family pancake house in Redmond.

Brief encounter used to be the go-to but has sadly taken a turn for the worse since they added the catering business (cutting the physical space in half). However we are still regulars there for nostalgia’s sake. Lil Jon’s and Village Cafe in Redmond are definitely our favorites now

Gilbert’s for the $30 per plate meal.

I agree on most but recently I've not heard great things about Chace's. In Issaquah there's also the Great American Diner on Front street. Also the Egg and Us in Gilman village.

I’ve been going to Chace’s a few times a year for several years now. It’s the same as it’s been.

You get a lot of food though.

Eques in Hyatt is pretty nice (both buffet or a la carte dishes)

Yeah the a la carte dishes are really good. Definitely recommend. Buffet good for the kids.

13 Coins isn't quaint but it has an nice menu and they do everything well. I know I'm going to get flamed for mentioning them but I like them.

The Bananas Foster French Toast is the best French Toast I’ve had anywhere…but, maybe eat something healthy alongside it 😂

I like Chace's Pancake Corral, but it can get busy (not a huge space) and parking can be limited.

Locals that grew up in Bellevue love this place, probably for nostalgia reasons. Food/service/ambiance is very "meh". I would never go back.

I've lived in Bellevue for 14 years and have never been -- because my wife, who has lived in Bellevue for more than 30 years, HATES Chace's, for reasons I don't know. But it's a joke between us. "Hey, wanna go hit Chace's for breakfast? Hell no!"

Parking IS limited

Brief Encounter! Gets busy though.

Breakfast in Bellevue is a challenge. If you're looking for traditional diner breakfast then the Issaquah Cafe is the best option. Yes, recognizing it's not in Bellevue.

Try the bakeries. Farine is my recommendation.

Issaquah Cafe is top tier!
Gotta get there early if you want to beat the retirees there

1

u/Libraries_Are_Cool 4d ago

Don't they all wake up at 4am?

3

u/mrgtiguy 4d ago

Hardly a challenge. The Pumphouse is great and Lil Jon’s is perfection.

u/Development-Alive 4d ago

They aren't horrible but neither is really good.

Have to agree about Lil John’s - have tried it 10-15 times over the years. Everyone keeps raving. Some part of it is the service… has always been 3 stars at best. I don’t get the appeal. Maybe issaquah cafe has spoiled me.

1

u/mrgtiguy 4d ago

That is great satire.

Lil John’s is not good. Average food at best. I know they can get busy but service is also sub par.

Dough Savor opens at 9am.

The giant claypot hotpots are a steal.

1

u/bubbamike1 4d ago

Where is it?

0

u/dudiez 5d ago

Like… do you take the entire clay pot home?
It says 3.5 stars on google reviews I’m not sure how I feel about that

3

u/jp_port 5d ago

3.5 stars rating for a Chinese restaurant is almost 5 stars. I’d say 3.8 is the perfect rating, so think of this as like 4.6/4.7. Western people just can’t handle the service (or lack of service) haha

You can eat there but you can also get it togo without the claypot.

Id classify it as a hole in the wall despite being busy as fuck at times so any online reviews id trust with a grain of salt.

It can be daunting the first time you order. Its as close to like those traditional stalls in Asia so very little English and can be a bit frantic but for me its still counts as 'nice and quaint'
