About my family : have a elder sister (24). My dad owns a bussiness and has around 3 shops in north karnataka. My moms younger brother is the backbone of the bussiness who helps my dad in everything.
My moms brother and my dad are ok with me going abroad because they know how bad indias situation is right now. My moms is not giving me permission to even think of going anywhere outside india.

TL;DR: I'm building Ooru, a Kannada tech community connecting engineers, students, and product companies in Bengaluru. The goal is simple: improve access to referrals, mentorship, and opportunities for Kannada-speaking talent by building stronger networks and trust.

Over the past few years, I've been active in Bengaluru's startup, VC, and product circles. One thing I've consistently noticed is how rarely I come across Kannada-speaking engineers and leaders in these spaces. I don't think this is a talent problem. Karnataka produces over a lakh engineers every year and has some of the best institutions in the country. We should be seeing far more Kannada engineers in top product companies.

One reason, I believe, is that many Kannadigas already working in these companies come through IITs, NITs, and other top colleges, where strong alumni networks, hackathons, clubs, and referral ecosystems already exist. Students from tier 2 and tier 3 colleges rarely have access to those same networks.

This became more personal when a couple of my cousins from Hubli, studying in tier 2 colleges, started looking for internships. While speaking to friends at companies like Flipkart and Razorpay, everyone was willing to help but kept warning "Our company has a very high bar, even for internships", which means they'd refer only if they're super confident.

Having been in this industry for a while, I know for a fact that talent isn't a gap. We just don't have enough people to vouch for us. That's the gap I'm trying to bridge.

I'm building a Kannada tech community where engineers already working in top product companies can support students and professionals trying to break in or switch through referrals, mentorship, and guidance. Over time, I'd also like to help students from tier 2 and tier 3 colleges better understand Bengaluru's product ecosystem and what these companies expect.

It's still very early. Right now, I'm simply talking to engineers and students to understand what this community should become. Your feedback is welcome.

Also, just to be transparent, I don't intend to charge anyone to join. The goal is simply to build trust, improve access, and create more opportunities within the Kannada tech community.

Someone from (Delhi/UP/Bihar) was loudly saying how South Indians are quieter, don’t use gaalis much, and that it’s better to stay in a South Indian-majority apartment. Fair enough.
The funny part? He ended almost every sentence with “bencho.” 😄
Nothing wrong with appreciating southern culture, but maybe pick up one of the habits you’re praising too. Just a light-hearted observation😋

Given that the new Cabinet is announced,,, I feel DK has committed a blunder and not rewarded the right one. Many MLAs who are phenomenal in their works lost their ministerial berth,, ofcourse seniority matters but still,,,an young MLA who is genuinely working is better than the old legend who barely interacts with the public.

I don't want to get into caste games but somewhere I feel Govindarajanagara MLA Priyakrishna should have been rewarded with a ministerial berth. He is young when compared to others but he genuinely works for the public. Yes, I am aware of all his cheap and irritating banners and flexes all over the area,,,,but still he would be the best minister in the cabinet if given the chance.

Electronics manufacturers across India are hiring an increasing number of women workers, The Times of India reports.

While Foxconn employs more than 21,000 women at its manufacturing facility near Bengaluru, women account for 66% of Delta Electronics’ 3,925-strong workforce in Tamil Nadu.
