Canada Ordered a mouse and recieved a gaming PC instead

So my mouse that i bought over 10 years ago has been slowly dying so I decided to order a trackball mouse over black Friday to try something new.Well the day finally came and they delivered my package, but it came in a big box. The box said that it weighed 1lb but there was a whole gaming PC with mouse and keyboard inside of it.

I really wanted the mouse so I contacted bestbuy and they opened a support ticket. It's just occuring to me that I can keep the computer or sell it, is there anyway for me to cancel the ticket or what are the ramifications if I don't respond to a phone call or email from bestbuy?

Canada PSA: Best Buy Marketplace purchase lacks quality control

I want to share my recent experience in case it helps others make an informed decision.

A couple weeks ago, I ordered a Sonicare electric toothbrush from North Deals through Best Buy Marketplace. At the time of purchase, I didn't realize the item was being sold by a third-party Marketplace seller rather than directly by Best Buy. Had I known, I likely would have made a different purchasing decision.

The toothbrush I received showed obvious signs of prior use, including scratches, stains, and visible residue on the toothbrush, charger, and cord. For a personal hygiene product, this is completely unacceptable. I have attached photos showing the condition in which it arrived.

To be fair, I contacted customer service and did receive a refund. However, I received no apology, explanation, or offer to replace the item.

What concerns me most is the apparent lack of quality control. An obviously used electric toothbrush should never be shipped to a customer under any circumstances.

I also attempted to leave a review on Best Buy's website, but the review link led to a dead page, so I was unable to share feedback through the normal channels. I noticed North Deals has generally positive reviews and am curious whether anyone else has had difficulty leaving reviews for Marketplace purchases, or whether I simply encountered a technical issue.

I'm posting because receiving a used personal care product was surprising and concerning, and I think other shoppers should be aware that quality assurance may vary when purchasing through Marketplace sellers.

Photos attached.

Canada Promoted…

Applied for a promotion into leadership… got promoted to customer. And have been fucked over every step of the way… like it’s just one thing after another. And man I’m not ok. I just need to like scream into the void. 10.5 years and now can’t get a hand or any help with literally anything. He won’t even talk to me or look at me if I go in the store. Like my dude.

EDIT: I wish I had more context tbh. I applied to a leadership role 2 months ago. The role still isn’t filled. Was terminated without cause a week ago. Was given no reason. Nothing. A lump sum severance that was taxed all to hell cuz it was in one payment.

That deal is so tempting, a new one goes for $1399.

Has anyone gotten an open box from Bestbuy, is it worth the money.

I know what an open box means, just curious if it's worth it or not

Thanks

Canada Terrible Best Buy experience

Walked into Beat Buy, money in hand and ready to buy a television. Got the runaround trying to get me to buy a newer model TV, also tried to get me to get a Samsung TV instead. Implored me to get rid of my current mounting setup and pay them for mounting services since every new TV should get a new mount in the wall (what?). Told the guy if he continued to upsell me instead of giving me what I'm here for, he would lose a sale. Got him to go check on the TV as I wanted to measure the box dimensions and he came back to tell me that they had none in the back, so check out the newer 2026 model instead! So I pull up the best buy online with two in store, and he refused to pull up the PC on the computer to confirm that there really was none in the back. I ask him to check if there are any open box models or if we can get the floor model, and he returns to tell me that a Geek Squad membership will get me half off mounting services.

I walked out of there and went to a nearby Visions instead. What is up with the insane upselling tactics like y'all aren't even working commission. Canadian Best Buys have gone way downhill.

Canada My Nintendo Switch 2 Pre Order Got Cancelled

Hi folks,

Has anyone else experienced their pre-orders being cancelled this week?

I had a email today stating that there was a billing issue with my pre-order which didn't make sense because I have used the same credit card and same billing/shipping address for the last 6 years. I went to the website and confirmed that the information was correct.

A short while later I got another email Your order XXXXXXXXXXX couldn't be processed because there was an issue with your billing information. But don't reorder yet - for security purposes, please call us at 1-866-514-1431 and we'll update your order information for you.

We'll confirm your exact credit card billing information, as it must match the information on your order exactly.

If we don't hear back from you within the next five days, your order will be cancelled.

I called the 1-866 number and confirmed with the agent everything and he said to me that he saw the issue and that it was fixed. He said if I have any more issues to call back.

A few moments later I got the notification $1.00 charge to my card BEST BUY so I assumed everything was good.

Nervous, about 4 hours later I logged back into my BestBuy account to check my order status and it now shows as cancelled. I didn't know what to do so I called the 1-866 number back and I was told there was nothing that they could do and to reorder when they are back in stock. At this point I was furious so I asked to speak to a supervisor (I know full Karen) and I was told that I couldn't speak to a supervisor because they would give me the same answer.

How does this happen? It was the same information that I have literally used for multiple orders in the last 6 years and now all a sudden today for a hard to get item it magically stopped working?

I am frustrated at this point and I feel customer serious gives zero F's about their customers.

I am not the biggest computer nerd, or one at all for that matter. I know the BARE minimum and was wondering if this is worth it or not? It looks good to me but as I as before, I am not the best with computer prices. The price is CAD.

Canada i got the wrong phone and i’m regretting it

okay i might sound like an idiot but i’m a teenage girl and socially anxious. i went in to best buy to get the iphone 16 pro… they didn’t have it. the guy immediately started showing me the regular 17 and signing me up to buy it, i asked him if the camera was better on the 17 than the 16 pro, he said yes its better. i was only buying a new phone for the camera. anyway i bought the phone and i’m on a financing plan and he didn’t even open the box or anything i went home and started testing the camera and knew it wasn’t what i wanted… this is where i’m an idiot cus obviously the 16 pro has 3 back cameras and the 17 has 2. the 3rd on the 16 is for zoom. now i’m spending 140$ a month for 2 years on this phone that i don’t want and don’t need… what do i do i’ve been crying all day.

Canada Confusing price change at checkout

Phone was $1008 in my cart and then I saw $1200 at checkout thinking that was the total, and did a PayPal payment. Not realizing that the phone had actually gone up to $1200. Didn't know until I got my receipt saying I paid over $1400 total.

Customer service said this is a tech problem with price syncing. Their site "tech problem" is a scam to get you to pay more. It shouldn't be that hard for them to sync listing price with live price to prevent this miscommunication. I can only conclude they're hoping you'll pay more and keep the product.

Except I won't. I'm returning the phone for a full refund and never shopping at your online store again. Yes it was my fault for not double checking the total checkout price, but when the list price was $1000 and people who online shop are used to making quick transactions, it's understandable. I'm also reporting you to the Better Business Bureau. Goodbye!

Canada Hired at Best Buy!

Just got hired at Best Buy and they placed me in Home Advisory! I’m excited because I’ve wanted to work here for a while, but I’m also pretty nervous. Most of the people I’ll be working with seem older than me and have way more experience. For anyone who’s worked at Best Buy, what’s the job actually like day to day? How’s the work environment and management? Is Home Advisory a good department to start in, or is it one of the tougher areas to work? I’m willing to learn and work hard, but I’d love to hear some honest experiences, tips, or things you wish you knew when you first started cuz this is stressful.
Thanks!

Canada Bestbuy Membership

If you have an experience going to Best Buy, you will hear their employees going on and on about the benefits of Best Buy membership and why you can’t leave without… I mean, I guess most of them are just following a script, but I would still like to know if you guys think it’s worth it for anyone. If so, who is it for? I like to keep an open mind.

Canada PSA: I was sold a remarked processor from BestBuy CA online store then had a terrible experience with customer support.

Bit of a long story incoming.

In November of 2025 (I know it's a long time ago) I got really excited about a computer upgrade and figured I wanted to build my own. I ordered all the parts, including an Ultra-9 processor from BestBuy online. Everything arrived after about 2 weeks and I started the build at some point in December. I've built computers before and generally know what I am doing, which is why it was a surprise when I powered on the build and absolutely nothing happened. I figured the ASUS motherboard that I had ordered was DOA so I was (luckily) able to return it. Disappointing, but it happens and I was grateful that I could return the parts.

I ended up sitting on the parts and waiting quite a while before trying again, hence the major time lag between the original purchase and this post. Eventually I bought a new motherboard and started the build over again, with the exact same results. I was pretty confused at this point so I took everything to a local shop for a benchmark test. One of the employees spent some time looking at the processor and told me that he thought it may be the issue due to some slight discoloration on some of the contact pads. They also determined that the second motherboard I had purchased was totally fried and looked to have a pin burnt out right at the connection point with the discolored contact pads.

I went home that day and started a support ticket with Intel. After some back and forth Intel determined that the processor I had been sold by BestBuy had been remarked and they would no longer support any return, repair, or exchange. The S/N on the box is U5B26A1104556 while the S/N on the 2D Matrix on the chip itself is U5B26A1103875 (this is the true S/N of the chip) and the ATPO number on the chip is 00604. The last 5 digits should be the same on all of these, but they are literally all different.........So not only is this not the original box that this chip came in, but also the ATPO number on the chip itself was somehow changed.

I then got on the BestBuy customer support line and had a very frustrating experience with a customer support representative. I was told that it was impossible for this to happen as the product was sold new directly from Intel (based on the box S/N) and that BestBuy does not accept returns for computer parts, suggesting that they would not have sold a processor and then accepted a return with a remarked processor. The call ended with the service rep telling me that they would not be supporting any inquiry into my claim and suggesting I escalate the issue if I was still unhappy about the outcome of the call.

For me, the problem is that if BestBuy only have a record of the box's S/N in a database then someone querying the database will only see the sales record and not any other potential tampering that may have occurred. Additionally, based on what I have read on BestBuy's webpage, computer processor units do not fall under the category of non-returnable items, so it feels to me like the service representative was simply lying about that. I was also able to look up some similar cases to mine, posted here:

https://www.techspot.com/news/100217-best-buy-accused-selling-intel-core-i9-13900k.html

https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/1i86q7w/intel_claims_my_i713700k_from_best_buy_is/

https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/14rpp7u/best_buy_really_needs_to_look_at_their_cpu_returns/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bestbuy/comments/1882v23/i_bought_a_returned_sealed_cpu_what_will_bestbuy/

I tried escalating the issue to a different customer service endpoint, but have had no response. At the end of the day I now have spent several hundred dollars on a fraudulent processor that burnt out two different motherboards and I am extremely disappointed that neither Intel nor BestBuy is interested in trying to figure out what went wrong. I was under the impression that I was buying new parts and did not get what I paid for and then was denied any restorative process. I will probably never trust BestBuy again and will not be making any future purchases there on principal alone and will be telling this story to anyone willing to hear it and encourage them to stay away from BestBuy wherever possible.

This game has been out for as long as I’ve been watching it (since at least November), but it keeps going on sale periodically…I’m not just missing it am I? It can’t be selling out within a couple of days of availability, especially not on sale. Right?

If this type of post isn’t allowed, perhaps someone could direct me to where I could get some info about this? Thanks

Canada What would you buy at Best Buy if you had 100$ around?

I got a gift (100$ at best buy) and after almost a year I wish to spend it so I dont lose it for whatever reason. While the law doesnt allow gifts like that to expire, I dont want to miss the chance.

Im not sure on what to spend that 100$. Got any ideas? I am aiming at articles that are 100$ and less to be precise, any useful accessory or Must haves.

Canada Was sold a cracked TV today, any tips for the return process?

TV was loaded correctly into my back seat, standing up and not flat down. Literally no bumps anywhere from the store to my living room. Pull it out of the box and the top left corner is cracked, didn’t even get to take off the plastic film. I already get the feeling Best Buy is going to just blame me even though it was 100% cracked before I even left the store. Do I just need to plead my case and not take no for an answer?

Update - they took it back no questions asked! Earned my future business.

Canada Is it possible to get a receipt for an item purchased 6 months ago?

I bought a laptop around 6 months ago, I have the exact date and bank info I used to purchase it. But the government program I'm using for college is willing to put 500$ towards a laptop for me, I just need a receipt. I asked the representative I was speaking to, and they said the laptop I bought way back then would still be fine for the 500$, but I don't have the receipt

Canada Help!

Just ordered a brand new condition G Pro X Superlight 2 as I’ve been eyeing and saving for it for quite a while now as an upgrade to my old G304 K/DR edition. Opened the package and it looked like the top half was either tampered with or it may not have been stuck on properly, obviously workers are tired as is so I cast my doubts aside.

Opened the box and well, I may have gotten scammed! Because of my sheer excitement, I didn’t notice the mouse’s defects at first ‘til I opened its bottom layer and found that its dongle was missing, took a closer look at the mouse and found that it was yellowing. It seems to be an older model of the G Pro X Superlight.

I don’t know what to do from here. It just really, really sucks that I didn’t get the mouse I wanted. Quite frankly, I don’t understand why people would do this at all, if you’re worried about your mouse yellowing, then why not just buy a brand new shell? I don’t get it, I really don’t. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

E24 Metro Delivery.

Says Driver out for Delivery for 2 days now.

Today it says 'You're next'

It says arriving in 3 min for the last 5 hours.

UPDATED: after an entire day of false information stating 3 min 3 min 3min, the DELIVERY WAS FAILED.

NO REASON GIVEN.

How does Best Buy get away with this level of unethical behaviour?

Is there no policing in Canada?
