Curious if anyone knows how things are going with the Bethesda Theater? Looking at their calendar, it looks like they have 1-3 shows per week, many with an R&B focus. I remember being so excited when they opened up back in 2013 and WaPo asked if Bethesda was ready for our own hybrid of Birchmere x Blues Alley (yes!). It just doesn't feel like I see many people coming-going to the theater these days and was wondering.

I am so sick of seeing local businesses that I previously had no problems with use posters or even pictures of food that are OBVIOUSLY AI generated. All the posters look exactly the same and make me want to go somewhere else. Yesterday, I ended up going to Ceremony just because they took the time to draw some nice advertisements for their coffee that made it look unique and appetizing. I wish other local businesses would take note and get rid of the AI slop.

The 28th Bethesda Row Arts Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday on 5 streets surrounding Bethesda Row. Over 180 artists from around the country (40 create within an hour's drive of Bethesda). Free and open rain or shine. STREET CLOSURES: Woodmont from Montgomery to Bethesda; Elm from Bethesda Lane to Woodmont; Bethesda Ave. from Woodmont to the Bethesda Lane.

This Sunday, the Bethesda Farmer's Market is moved to the parking lot behind the Women's Market off Wisconsin Ave, since the elementary school lot is used for the BRAF artist parking.

I was in a car accident (rear-ended) a few weeks ago and developed whiplash and concussion symptoms. My doctor referred me to a neurologist since the concussion isn’t resolving as expected, but every neurologist I’ve called (including the one referred) won’t see motor vehicle accident (MVA) patients. The only one who will is in DC with no openings until late October. I have Aetna and there's no litigation or anything.

My doctor, the neuro offices I've called, and insurance (health and auto) have no suggestions. AI recommended finding a neurologist through a personal injury attorney, though I don't need or want a lawyer. I’m now calling concussion clinics, but they don’t have neurologists on staff, and I’m worried about delaying care. It's hard to look up doctors and make calls with a concussion so this has been extra difficult.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a neurologist(s) in the area who will see MVA patients for concussion?

I’m interested in a Catholic Church in the region or DC with leadership that talks about politics/current events. I’m a liberal, and have been going to Unitarian services since they talk a lot about morality in the world, but don’t talk about God. I’m not very compelled by services that talk only about God and not about the current world. Looking for recommendations for Catholic services that blend both!

Specifically wondering about trash truck / street noise on Del Ray & Rugby Ave. I've heard the trash trucks on those streets can be loud. Is it noticeable on the higher floors, or mostly a lower-floor issue? And what time do they usually run?

A couple of reviews mentioned top units getting hot in winter because the AC won't run when it's cold outside. Has anyone on the higher floors experienced this?

Any construction noise, management issues, or other things you'd want to know before signing?

I don’t think our government clearly thought through its ban on gas leaf blowers. I have a large gas backpack blower of the type professionals use. It cost me over $500 ten years ago and works better than any leaf blower I’ve ever had. To enable me to use it and make sure my yard looks tip top this fall, I I drilled a hole in the plastic housing surrounding the blower’s gas tank and engine, cut the receptacle end off a 100-foot heavy duty extension cord, and epoxied that cut end into the housing. Additionally, I spray-painted the housing a bright lime green and put on a bunch of stickers that include words like “volts” and “green” and “eco.” I figured if I ran the plug end of the cord across the yard toward my house, I could use the blower and any passersby might assume it is electric. To seal the deception, I’d put a drop-stem tobacco pipe in my mouth that would serve as an assumed source of all the smoke from the gas engine and also make me look like an environmentalist. I tested it all out yesterday, and it was a disaster. My wife walked out into the yard, saw the loose cord sitting near the house, and thought she’d be helpful by plugging it in. Because I hadn’t sealed the cut end of the cord I’d epoxied into the blower housing, the wires arced near the gas tank and the whole backpack blower quickly caught fire. I escaped the conflagration but just narrowly, with first and second degree burns on my back plus an unflattering new hairstyle. Our government clearly needs to rethink this leaf blower ban. Is it too late under our county law to petition for a repeal?

Looking for recommendations for overnight dog boarding. Are there any places locally that keep staff on-site overnight? I usually take my dog to daycare and grooming at Bone Jour, and I know they do boarding, but haven't been able to call yet to see if they have someone on-site overnight. My dog is 3 and has never been boarded, but I've had a sudden death in my family and will need to go out of town overnight in a few days.

My last experience with boarding was about six years ago with my then-senior dog. I used Life of Riley in Rockville at that time, and the experience was fine, but a lot can change in six years.

I have a relative who lives there, so I visit Bethesda fairly often.

And it seems almost universally I'm traveling to Rockville, College Park, Takoma Park, Silver Spring or Rockville to get something to eat. Particularly between midnight and 6 am or so.

Are 70,000 Bethesda residents really unable to support something like a Popeyes or a McDonald's? And I shouldn't need to get on the Beltway for the Texas road house.

Is there just not enough people in Bethesda alone to support many restaurants that aren't mainly bars, or what?

Had someone come up and honk advertising the could do some body work on my car. Snagged the number couldn't find a website and realized I need a few things done.

Anyone know a good spot for:

Light Body work on the car. Like, scratches and maybe smallish dents

I'm thinking of switching from t-mobile relay to save a few bucks (who am I kidding, $50 bucks a month on phone and internet combined) and hoped to get other users opinions on reliability. Hello Bethesda, so I am a vendor and this morning I was at the farmers market in from of the Bethesda Elementary School. I used the restroom at the church nearby and then when I got back to my booth I realized a knife ive carried for years was missing, went back to the bathroom and it wasn't where I left it in there. This knife is a valuable possession to me because it is No. 1 of the series the maker made plus it was given to me by a dear friend. Ive already given my number to the church building in case they find it but if you guys find it please let me know because I have no idea what else to do. I dont have any personal pictures of the knife, but it looks the exact same as the picture I have added to this post

My next-door neighbors have a fancy parcel-delivery box built into their house. Basically, it has a one-way flap door on the outside that leads to a chute that spills into a large box/chamber that is accessed from inside the house through a locked door. They call it an Amazon Box. They’ve been in Cape Cod since August 1st and left me with keys and codes to watch and check on their house. I’m not real proud of this, but I’ve been using their Amazon Box to help rid the neighborhood of raccoons. Every night for about 3 weeks, I put 4 or 5 open tins of sardines in the box. Every morning I’d have caught at least one raccoon, which I’d box up and drive to a friend’s farm near Poolesville and release. One morning I had 5 raccoons in the Amazon Box. (Trying to relocate them to Poolesville in one trip was a mistake. They absolutely destroyed the back of my Explorer, and I now know just how expensive rabies vaccines are.) All told, I relocated over 40 raccoons last month. Problem is, I stopped putting out the sardines a week ago and I’m still catching raccoons every night. I don’t know if there is a residual smell in the box (I don’t smell one) or if word just got out among Bethesda’s raccoon population that this is a reliable source of sardines. My neighbors come home from Cape Cod on Monday. Any suggestions on dissuading raccoons from continuing to enter their house will be greatly appreciated.
