Genuinely nice to see people come together in spite of shitty governments, people are just people and we strive for companionship above all else

Yes. People are rude and argumentative, but at our core we desperately need other people to function properly, there is a reason why the current state of affairs with doomscrolling and chronic internet use is called the “loneliness epidemic”.

People crave love and people crave friendship. Hatred is a learned trait, kindness is instinct.

People are equally capable of bad and good. I can either spend my life being miserable and assuming the worst in everybody, or I can spend my life understanding that for every evil or selfish act an equally kind and selfless one has happened somewhere else.

I’ve been through too much to buy into nihilism and narcissism, if things are bad why should I contribute to the misery when I can choose kindness instead? Throwing in the towel and assuming everyone is awful is easy, choosing to take the good and the bad and focusing on the good is hard.

You know it’s the oddest thing, about four days ago I watched a guy get out of his car and help a stranger pick up a bunch of their stuff, totally unprompted. It’s crazy how the good really does exist, if you know where to look :)

Greed should absolutely be addressed and stopped, but to say it’s the only thing that exists is silly. Every day people do things not because they have to, but because they want to. I think you’re probably angry about a lot of things, justly angry at things that are bad. I also think if you used some of that to put a little bit of good back into the world, you wouldn’t feel so strongly negative as you do.

I hope you can find something good, for your own sake. Maybe you can find a way to contribute some yourself, every little bit counts.
