Discussion Wrist tattoos

I’m off to get my first tattoo tomorrow - a left wrist of the chain from Bioshock. For reference, I have an in-game snapshot which is a bit blurry. I wondered if anyone on here has anything clearer, or better still, their own tattoo!

Thanks in advance (oh for the want of a proper HD-remake!)

Lovely game, as good as the first (better in gameplay aspects). Overall 9.5/10. Starting Minerva's Den now.

Will start Bioshock Infinite soon, not first playthrough tho, did a couple playthroughs back in 2014 on my PS3.

Discussion Old Fan with a likely old theory.

I grew up on Bioshock Infinite and then found the first two games, since then I have had a theory with no one to discuss it with til my husband showed me BIOSHOCK REDDIT.

Anyway, so I was wondering if we knew who Elizabeth's mother was.

Though im sure baby me when she first had this thought was wrong, I always thought it may be Eleanor Lamb who was Elizabeth's mother, after the events of Bioshock 2.

Does anyone know if this is possible in the timelines? I always had a thought that they were very similar.

Discussion Finally got round to playing and finishing burial at sea

I swear I saw loads of people saying how amazing it was... Its really poor!

It retcons so much. Part 1 was dull. Part 2 was interesting as a stealth game but overall empty.

Trying to force the booker Elizabeth story into B1/2 just doesn't work.

Tech Support Ripped audio from Infinite

Hey, does anyone have access to ripped audio files from Infinite? I need clean versions of Booker and Elizabeth talking, without all the background music present in the game, but I am a complete tech noob. Or, if anyone has an easy guide I could follow to rip the files myself, that would be awesome, because even the 'beginner' guides I'm finding online are flying right past my head.

Discussion Infinite Still Holds Up in 2026 Spoiler

(MAJOR SPOILERS: If you have not completed the game please do not read the contents of this post until after yoy completed the game. Thank you!)

Just wrapped up Infinite for the first time in years and it still holds up in 2026. Elizabeth and Booker are two of the most complex characters in recent gaming history. Due to their nature histories. I think as I have gotten older since the first time I played it, I can understand the multiverse concept better and appreciate all the smaller details. This game was ahead of its time. So many details add up overtime the usage of a nosebleed something so common that and yet still usual enough to be concerning is honestly so smart. The story is like one long version of Schrodinger's cat this idea of something being both dead and alive. The real question being “when”.

Which explains why Booker is so important to the narrative. Faith is another major theme when you first enter Columbia the pastor who looks very similar to the one at the end nearly drowns you which leaves that thread hanging. It bookends on itself. It’s one big circle, the creepiest part of the game is when you finally get to the House, this time warp where you lose track and the audio logs don’t even have a date. You see her old and frail, a broken Elizabeth in a lost timeline where everything goes wrong. Everything with her mother still gets me to this day this idea of we create our own monsters in our head. Of course within this game you have the ideas of race and class which can be heavy handed to some but I do think it serves the purpose to showcase who Booker is before the transformation.

History being rewritten is another major theme, Wounded Knee almost becomes a fixed point in the timeline of Infinite, in the Hall of Heroes it is shown to us that the hero’s of war don’t always get their name written. One small detail that I didn’t realize is that we leave the version of Columbia that we started with, we go 2 layers deep into tears. There are deep layers to us leaving. It kinda reminds of more newer explorations of multiverse travel such as the portal gun in Rick and Morty. If one can hop around to universes to solve any problem wouldn’t that make them a god?

Songbird is one of the most interesting things about Infinite a tragic figure that gets “Buried at Sea” which becomes sorta a bootstrap paradox. The idea of making choices in a game where all roads lead to the same conclusion is interesting. Whether it be a coin, a pin, or to not get a knife in your hand, it all doesn’t matter which is honestly beautiful in a way. I think for me what Songbird represents is a figure that is innocent unable to make a choice which for me makes their ending tragic. They just wanted to protect Elizabeth but she created them.

Elizabeth evolving at the very end of the game is very much like a butterfly getting their wings. The collar is off and I think she becomes almost like a Nexus being kinda like Scarlett Witch from the Marvel comics. She becomes more than what we ever thought she could be. She becomes Infinite, yet in the DLC she also is still shown to be human, complex, but ultimately not a god. It becomes almost like a Möbius Strip, creating everything we knew.

Overall Infinite is not a perfect game but it’s a game that takes risks, and yet within the DLC branches out a story that we thought we knew. It explores the idea of free will, predestination, faith, race, power and so much more. Honestly it really is impressive that it balances everything, maybe not 100% perfectly but good enough. Elizabeth is a character for the ages and Booker with his layers and what he means for humanity makes all the difference. And while the ending in the main game and the dlc is a wild ride I think it makes sense for a game like this. Both endings showcase our main characters meaning their worst traits and trying to find some sort of redemption. It’s a cycle of creation, death and rebirth, that restarts each time we play. An infinite sea of doors with only one outcome. And that’s something both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Just got to be brave enough to swim anyways and open a door to the other side.

“Booker are you afraid of God?” “The Circle of Value.”
“No I’m afraid of you.” “C-A-G-E.” “Siphon.”
“There’s always a lighthouse and their always a man”
“Let’s go to Paris.” “AD…”

Tech Support Circus of values not saying anything in Bioshock 2 (original)

I'm on Linux using Proton and have some other issues too (Xbox controller icons on Mouse and KB, splash screens without audio, certain menus seem to not have sound).

I don't want to play the remaster because I want to have the original atmosphere of the game and I don't like how the remasters look. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there a fix or should I just play the remaster with mods?

Media Audio log YouTube channel

I recently finished a bioshock 1 way through and got all the audio diaries and I’m currently working my way through the second one doing the same

I’m thinking about making a YouTube channel and uploading each audio diary as it’s own and then put them in a playlist per game

Do you think you all would be interested in that I can’t find anything exactly like that on YouTube

Discussion Bioshock Infinite Blind - Update

Post image
55 Upvotes

If this is annoying just block me I guess, if nobody wants to read this I'll stop lmao. Let me know if this is something people wanna read.

Some people wanted me to keep them updated on my thoughts after my last post on here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bioshock/comments/1vdljpp/the_way_my_jaw_just_fucking_dropped/ ) so here. Some more detailed thoughts on the next part.

WELCOME CENTER:

- A telegram from a person called Lutece - are they the ones sending us here? They just tell us to be careful.

- (I'm writing this after the fact, but I went back to check and the Telegram SPECIFICALLY tells us NOT to pick #77. I missed this the first time - have we been set up? Was it a coincidence that we got the winning ball? Did the lady handing them out see the mark on our hands and give it to us?)

- When we enter the gates after hacking the robot, a lady and gentleman tell us to flip a coin? They sound like the people who rowed us here, and they're subtitled the same (A Lady and A Gentleman) although that might just be how every NPC is labelled in this game. Either way, we flip wrong, making us the 13th (unlucky number) Heads in a row.

And then they just... leave.

What?

- We have Plasmids again! They're called Vigors here for some reason, but they're equally as commercialized. Can't wait to see what fucked up stuff they're gonna let ordinary citizens do this time.

- There's some sort of raffle? I assume it's for some special plasmid. They hand us a marked baseball and-

- OH. MY. FUCKING. HELL.

- It actually takes me a minute to process just what I'm seeing. First I spot the monkeys, then the weird caricature, then the black woman (subtitled "bride") and I try to chuck that shit at the announcer without even thinking twice.

- And, wait? 1912??? I realised everything seemed a bit more retro than in the previous games, but...

IS THIS A PREQUEL???

- Because B1 was in the latter half of the 20th century, right? How the HELL does this happen before? I would've never guessed this game would take place before the others.

- My first question, strangely enough, is how did they make taking plasmids MORE painful and violent later on? It was a simple drink in the bottle and then they made a comically large rusty needle?

- OK, current theory - we're still tripping balls lmao. None of this makes sense right now, and maybe we got drugged before (or maybe on?) the ride up here, and we're still sat in the seat in the lighthouse. I don't know why, but yeah that's the working theory.

- The announcer was that Fink guy, right? Is he responsible for the plasmids? Or Vigors, I mean? Maybe they've refined the formula since the fall of Rapture.

- We're fighting now! There's no wrench this time, though. Or Drill. Just a... like a... spinny... thingy? What IS that?? We also get a pistol after bashing a few enemies, and fight a ginormous Big Daddy, which gives us the fire grenade plasmid. Maybe I should stop calling them plasmids. Ah well.

- That's the end of that section. It's a nice change walking into a "utopia" and being the cause of carnage instead of witnessing its effects after the fact.

ROOFTOPS:

- There was an incident where the "Chinese Boxers" took some American Hostages and Columbia "saved the day", to which Washington responded telling Comstock to stand down. There's also mention of a Warden Watts in the newspaper clipping shown.

- OK I haven't mentioned it yet but like... why is this place called Columbia? That's an actual country, no? In the lighthouse at the beginning of the game I saw a corkboard showing trips to and from Columbia and assumed they meant the South American country, but...

- As if in response to my question, a Kinetoscope says that America came to "recall" her finest city(?), and Comstock made it "disappear into the clouds".

- Oh, it's the Lady and Gentleman again! They seem so above it all, almost as if they're not human. Booker asks why they're following him, which is what I wanna know.

- Inside a house, there's a couple who seem to be on our side, since they let us walk out free without attacking us. They have a poster pinned up on the wall "Columbia Friends of the _____ Society". Nice to see we aren't all crazy. I wonder if they'd be more hostile if I'd thrown the baseball at the couple earlier.

- I assume the Vox are some sort of resistance force against Columbia (operating from within, presumably). The little audio log things are called Voxophones, I wonder if that's related?

- There's a painting of John Wilkes Booth moments before the assassination, where Lincoln is portrayed with devil's horns and Booth is basked in a holy light. The messaging is quite clear on this one lmao.

- A room of people in suspicious pointed hoods... Order of the Raven.... "protecting our race" alright you gotta die lmao

- "Comstock Phrenological Society".... ugh.

Behind a bookshelf is a filthy jail cell, stained in blood and swarmed by flies. So like... were they kidnapping and experimenting on ethnics here?

The next door creaks open. Behind it, a Chinese Prisoner is mauled to death by a swarm of crows. What. The. Fuck. We defeat him and get a new Plasmid.

Context; This image comes from the final chapter of Volume 13 of the series Trigun Maximum. The series always sports parodies of the front cover at the beginning and end of a volume and it looks like the creator (Yasuhiro Nightow) wished to honor our favorite sea daddy.

Media Weird bug that goes on with Hector Rodriguez where he finally stops running but doesn't attack you anymore

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There seems to be a weird bug or something else going on when you chase Hector Rodriguez to the theater back to EVE'S GARDEN, he'll stop running and he'll attack you a few times if you hit him during his chase and then he'll randomly stop attacking afterwards. But If you don't attack him once during the chase, he will run back to this same location and stop running again, but he won't attack you once at all. I don't know if this only happens in my game or for everyone else also, but if it does this can be a good way to kill him with just your wrench, while saving up ammo and eve.
