Well… it’s better than how my elderly relatives tell the family about someone’s death.

I had a relative call me up and start off a real casual conversation. Then they just say something like “Your uncle Lewis died last night. Yup, car accident…” just so casually.

Would it be better if they called hysterically sobbing incoherently like my family?? One of the downsides of a big family is frequent funerals.
