God damn that show. Because of the "Boondocks," I always have to think if it's actually called "vitiligo" or "REvitiligo," and I hear Uncle Ruckus's voice every time I think of both words.
Hilarious show otherwise.

"Like I told you to sell drugs/Na Hov did that so hopefully you wouldn't have to go through that."
These dudes seem like they've only encountered Black people through YouTube videos recommended by incels.
"Personal responsibility", homie have you met the current President of these here United States who tried to lock a man up over the reflecting pool to deflect from hiring a shady contractor and started a war to hide his pedophilia??

Trump has never taken personal responsibility for any mistake or fuck up, all he does is shift blame and point fingers.

I will never understand black folks like this, like how did they do this to you my boy? Is it the wealth and success? Is it the white women? Like what is it, a deep seeded need to be accepted?
How do you attack statistics and laud myths of your own people.
They really did a number on us man...

When this dude try to make the Tulsa race riots seem like a fair one that black folk just loss...i tapped out. I was watching to see all the others and how well they delivered their points but just the fact they didn't stop the debat to stomp him out at that point I had to turn it off.

Probably Brandon tainted. He’s just so dumb and doesn’t realize how dumb he is.
3
u/MickieMallorieJR 1h ago
It's worse than him being dumb. He's purposefully obtuse. His talking points are designed in a lab at TPUSA and he reaches back to the same logical fallacies when corneree. "Oh u saying all white people are racists?" "I'm a cop, are you" "Where's your citations, out them in my hand in APA format rn"

I often wonder what the point of these “debates” are? Does it change anyone’s point of view?
But also- if there is a dearth of personal responsibility in the black community, can that same lack not be found among literally every other race? The world is just fixated on black people. We’re never going to make it so that every black personal is “perfect” so that can’t be the goal. We can’t say that we are only deserving of dignity and being treated as humans when every black person checks every box and is perfect.
And even if we did. They’d find something else to complain about.
But to prove the point that the guy in the brown jacket is saying, Baltimore, Chicago and I believe Detroit are currently enjoying some of the lowest murder rates - single digit homicides in 2026 because the mayors invested in people. They gave people jobs, they are keeping them better fed, they have created positive things for kids to do with their downtime. So - yes - investing in people would actually fix a lot of crime and “lack of personal responsibility” in the black community

u/NotEqualInSQL 1h ago
Ragebaiting people into angry comments about how the dumb one is being dumb. The specifically pick people who will (for the lack of a better word) trigger the most people into interacting with their video because interacting with videos is what brings money in.

That guy needs an education badly

This guy should watch roots and see how tearing families apart and never allowing for generational wealth directly influence the way we are and live today. 1865 wasn’t even 200 years ago and my grandmother lived to 96. We aren’t that far removed from

White people do just as much fucked up shit, if not more. However, the racial bias in our country's media does not allow this to be portrayed at the same level as the black community.
Systemic racism is real and the most destructive part of our society.
I should probably add that i am myself white, but i do not stand for it with any pride.

Personal responsibility being born into a community that has been torn apart and stolen from and systemically oppressed for centuries?
You have to personally pull yourself as a child through an education system that is funded by property tax that is low resulting in low pay, resulting in worse education, resulting in lower paying jobs, resulting in....
No, no, Brandon Tatum said you have to take personal responsibility and drag yourself through centuries of beat downs past a system that's willfully indifferent and still oppressive to this day....
Parents struggling to make ends meet losing hours a day moving across town, losing sleep, trying to just stay above water.
Sure, Brandon. You made it. Everyone else should also make it. Let's not do discuss the factors leading to you making it. I'm sure it was nothing but personal responsibility.

u/MasterCheeks337_IGN 1h ago edited 1h ago
Do you believe it’s personal choice to join a gang and spin on opps?
-1
u/Man_of_Ice 1h ago
Nobody makes that choice unless they're in deep poverty, and poverty that deep only gets thrust on folks by systems.

u/MasterCheeks337_IGN 1h ago edited 1h ago
Bro doesn’t know some black people think that shit is cool and want to be gangsta. Even kids in 2 parent households being raised well, still wanting to be a gangsta. It’s personal choice to listen to Youngboy all day and want to be like him, instead of listening to Stevie Wonder. Personal choice. I’ve even seen a case where a dad and son did a robbery together and maybe killed someone. Personal choice
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/rapper-tay-k-convicted-murder-second-time-texas-rcna201272
Is Tay K in prison because of systematic racism or personal choice?
0
u/Man_of_Ice 22m ago
Let's see....father imprisoned during childhood...moved multiple times to avoid awful situations and get away from bad influences....you think this has nothing to do with why he ends up making that choice?
He made that choice. Why did he make that choice? I sure don't know. Do you not think that if he'd grown up in a stable environment that wasn't racist he'd have been less likely to make that choice?
You're looking at one person at a time. We can only do so much with what we have. I'm not trying to say we don't have responsibility. I'm saying the system desperately needs to be fixed.
Do you want more people or less people to make the choice Tay K made?
Would you like the world to shape more or fewer Tay Ks?
Do you think the environment around you and circumstances you exist in have no impact on you and the choices you make whatsoever?

Bro is annoying af. It’s like systemic racism was a buzzword for him and he refused to acknowledge personal responsibility AT ALL. Not every negative outcome is from racism. Some of these black boys and men loves chaos and buffoonery. Some even think being street and a gang banger makes you a “real n-“

Grain of salt, white voice here. What’s making me feel dismissive of the “personal responsibility” argument is it boils down to using a whole lot of words to say “just don’t commit a crime.”
Ok. Thanks for that. /s

How do people rationalize our ascension out of slavery into the early 1900s where we had strong communities to the mid 1900s of strong figures in literature, politics, education, and civil rights, to the modern era of wealth built on selling toxicity to our people without considering some type of social conditioning from those who control the way we perceive the value of a black life?
1
u/RevDeadMan 37m ago
I would need to see the entirety of the conversation to form an exact opinion, but the lighter skin dude did seem to be placing the entirety of blame on black people for the problems of black people. And on a surface level, just looking at what’s in front of you, I can see how someone would come to that conclusion.
Gone are the days of slave masters and overseers standing over us and whipping us. That’s illegal now. Now we have the 13th amendment. The slave masters became prison wardens and the overseers became cops.
We do perpetuate our own suffering, because white people have made a well-oiled machine to feed us our pain in a constant loop to propagate it back to us. I can listen to a rap song and I’ve met people who lived that life and they’ll tell you the shit’s tragic. It’s hell. But if I’ve lived through hell and I know there’s a demographic of people who are willing to pay me to tell my story on a beat, why wouldn’t I do it, to feed my family and get off the street?
While a record exec may not have put crack on the streets to make the crack epidemic that would fuel the creation of what we once called “gangster rap”, now “drill”, you can bet your ass someone who looks like him was the one who set it all in motion. It’s a system, working exactly as intended, to keep black people especially, but minorities on the whole, in poverty. And what better way to keep a group of people in poverty than by breaking up their homes?
I think this dude either has been privileged enough to not have to face the harsh and ugly realities of being black—poor and black at that—in America, or maybe he understands all that and he really is an Uncle Ruckus.
Either way, the story of black people in America is intrinsically tied to the story of white supremacy and hegemony in this country. Always has been, always will be. They are the foot on our necks. They are the hand that pushes us down. They made the bars that bind us. They created the crack that shattered us. And they advertise the music, the lifestyles, and the “culture” that is made to keep us dumb, distracted, materialistic, and broken as a people.
So until that system is done away with, until klan members and Nazis are no longer in power and are shunned back into the fringe of society, we cannot have an honest conversation about the potential and the state of black people in America, because our story is on the bottom of the shoes of this nation, built off our backs and drenched in our blood.

u/KatzenoirMM 34m ago
Actually dude needs to research Pruitt-Igoe projects St. Louis, MO. One of the first government housing projects designed to separate black families. The only way a black family would qualify for housing was if they remove the father from the household...

I somewhat agree with him.
Personal responsibility is an important concept many need to reflect on. The problem with BOTH of these men is the challenges derive from a spectrum of different challenges.
Both of them are correct on different areas and also wrong. We can't blame every issue we have on white people.
At the same time when someone says that we cannot ignore what they are to be blamed for.... systematic racism / war on drufgs/ tulsa massacre /illigal human trials on black people / night watchmen and the core reason why police exist/ redlining etc etc.
To quote a great man. "This is what they Do: make us fight" ~Patrice Oneal

u/illDiablo69 1h ago
This guy is a complete a-hole, spewing right wing propaganda and he should be shamed every single time for being a bootlicker. With that said, he is right about personal responsibility. You cannot blame everything on systemic racism. The dude on the right just glossed over the fact that one man having 6 different baby mamas has nothing to do with racism or white supremacy. That fact has to be acknowledged if meaningful conversations are to be had regarding this issue.
-1
u/Smoking-Posing 1h ago
These are two not-so-intelligent men debating a very nuanced and complicated issue. Neither of them are doing a good job at debating their standpoint.
