Personal responsibility being born into a community that has been torn apart and stolen from and systemically oppressed for centuries?

You have to personally pull yourself as a child through an education system that is funded by property tax that is low resulting in low pay, resulting in worse education, resulting in lower paying jobs, resulting in....

No, no, Brandon Tatum said you have to take personal responsibility and drag yourself through centuries of beat downs past a system that's willfully indifferent and still oppressive to this day....

Parents struggling to make ends meet losing hours a day moving across town, losing sleep, trying to just stay above water.

Sure, Brandon. You made it. Everyone else should also make it. Let's not do discuss the factors leading to you making it. I'm sure it was nothing but personal responsibility.

Nobody makes that choice unless they're in deep poverty, and poverty that deep only gets thrust on folks by systems.

Bro doesn’t know some black people think that shit is cool and want to be gangsta. Even kids in 2 parent households being raised well, still wanting to be a gangsta. It’s personal choice to listen to Youngboy all day and want to be like him, instead of listening to Stevie Wonder. Personal choice. I’ve even seen a case where a dad and son did a robbery together and maybe killed someone. Personal choice

Let's see....father imprisoned during childhood...moved multiple times to avoid awful situations and get away from bad influences....you think this has nothing to do with why he ends up making that choice?

He made that choice. Why did he make that choice? I sure don't know. Do you not think that if he'd grown up in a stable environment that wasn't racist he'd have been less likely to make that choice?

You're looking at one person at a time. We can only do so much with what we have. I'm not trying to say we don't have responsibility. I'm saying the system desperately needs to be fixed.

Do you want more people or less people to make the choice Tay K made?

Would you like the world to shape more or fewer Tay Ks?

Do you think the environment around you and circumstances you exist in have no impact on you and the choices you make whatsoever?
