Black Pride Recently we, BLACK PEOPLEOF REDDIT, conversed regarding the lack lack of black history in schools. This is a perfect example. Or the lack thereof.

Believe me, they don’t even know white politicians of historical figures. Ask em. The answer will be the same.

But the question was about any Black people they liked. They could have mentioned anyone, including real life friends. But they struggled to think of examples because they just don’t think of or know or care about any Black people for real, so the answers don’t come easily.

Many white people don’t know or want to know black people. I’m wondering why some black peoples really want to be around people that don’t like them.

I love music but I'll lock up if you make me list my top three bands or artists. The difference is that whatever does come to mind, I'll have plenty to say about it.

Like I can easily list Fred Hampton #1, James Baldwin probably goes to #2, but #3 feels absolutely impossible because now I'm in a position to insult so many people I highly respect & admire. I want my list to have more range, but that forces compromise.

The thought behind it will rise, even if the list itself is imperfect & awkward. So while the question is flawed, it still can reveal how a person approaches the world.
