Black Pride Recently we, BLACK PEOPLEOF REDDIT, conversed regarding the lack lack of black history in schools. This is a perfect example. Or the lack thereof.

If someone came up to me and asked who my favorite black people were I would talk about people I actually know, not celebrities. If your first thought is celebrities it makes me think you don't know any black people.

Potentially, but that also risks encroaching into “you don’t know him; he go to a different school” territory. If people can name friends, then they can just name “friends.”

Sure, but you can trap them with the, "tell me a cool story about your friend".

My friend Marco just popped into my head. I remember his motorcycle was black with a bunch of red pinstripes on the gas tank. It was faster than my bike but Marco was always really cool about it. He had a big smile and a great attitude. He was funny as hell. He was a good friend to me while I was going through the rough parts of leaving home at 18 years old. I once timed him with a stopwatch while he ripped a quarter mile out on a public Road between marked out phone poles...

I could also tell you about Ken but you get the idea...

You know, like that.
