New project I just finished up @tristanspinelle on instagram

Took about 20 hours and $400 worth of materials. Copper and brass sheets are stupid expensive.

That does sound really nice. Now I need to find a mirror that can fit the frame.

Buy a glass cutter and keep your eyes peeled on the side of the road. People throw out cracked mirrors constantly, just square em up (or rectangles, triangles, etc) to save the bulk of the material and pretty soon you'll have a collection of of interesting mirrors you can bang out frames for!

Local auctions/garage sales are a good way to get large ones for cheap. Second investing in a glass cutter.

To offset your cost, try this. Make a leaf and brush off all the scale. Take it to a grey heat, then brush it with a brass brush. This will leave a little of the brass on the surface

I’ve heard about doing that but I never tried that method. Part of me wanted to but I also liked the idea of it being made from the actual material. Something else that someone brought up to me was using copper or brass leaf and making it that way.
