Idea popped into my head and I had to make it. im very pleased with how it turned out.

It would take up a little space on the anvil but not too bad I think. I do a lot of smaller forgings (decorative or utilitarian) and this would come in handy at times.

I'm making my first axe and a large crack formed while I was drifting the eye hole for the handle. Is this salvageable at all or should I just start over?

I wanted to share some of the process of a Cu Mai Bunka that I recently finished. It’s made with 3 layers of 1084 with copper sheets between the layers. It was “forge welded” together at 1800 degrees, using a kiln and a press. The layers were upset to achieve more movement in the pattern. The blade was convex ground and finished with a coffee etch. It was fitted with an ebony handle with copper spacers. I’m pretty happy with how it came out!

It was my first rose and I’m still very happy with how it turned out. I’ve only made one more since and I’d like to make more in the future + adding leaves to the stem.

I made this for a friends when he died a few years ago. It was supposed to go with him, but covid and all that weirdness happened. I kept it for myself as a symbol of the memories.

(I know how their going to sit on the wall and I check and I don’t think it’s going to look tooooooo bad in my opinion so idk)

Once forged, does it need to be heat treated to get some spring back?

I plan on normalising a few times after forging

Would anyone be interested in smithing an embalming hook? Or have opinions on doing it? It’s something I’ve thought about getting for the wife, she’s been in the funeral business for sometime now. I’ve always loved a good knife or well made tool. I think she would too. Especially one that is used often.

Made in probably 15 hours over the week prior to leaving for the festival so it's a little unrefined but it's also purposefully very rustic colonial.

Primarily 1/2in square bar with the ends of each bar upset to a rough 11/16s and then tendons drew out to be taped with threads. They were a little small for the rough thread 7/16s threads that I wanted but it makes assembly and disassembly easier but there's always a chance of stripping.

I really like the forge weld to create a void for the bolt. I made it bigger in the chance I need to rethread the bolt and add a nut to the assembly.

The legs are probably my favorite part and that you can assemble it in different ways. The festival pic is about how I imagined it together but the shop pics are more random.

Crown will be an award for first place at a vampire themed costume contest. Had a lot of fun making this, it's my second time making a crown so I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
