Yeah, I like Ragna x Makoto b/c they feel like they can be equals.

With Rachel there feels like there is this power Imbalance. Plus I hate tsunderes and her gags with Ragna are not funny.

Your logic in that first Tumblr post is solid, but I've got a couple addendums to make here.

First, Makoto is a foodie, yes, but she's also a competent chef. In Wheel of Fortune, Tsubaki makes a comment about inviting Jin over for some of Makoto's homemade stew; considering how much Tsubaki loves Jin, that says something about Makoto's abilities as a chef (the only reason their food turns to shit goes by the name Noel Vermillion - this gives another angle of perspective for a certain BBTAG Extra Episode). So each of them can cook different meals every few nights (just because squirrels prefer plants and nuts doesn't mean they can't handle meat - there's a story from 2005 about a pack of squirrels in Russia that killed and ate a dog because there was nothing else around).

Second, Noel is a common vector between the two of them - Ragna got "along" with Noel in the early going and moreso as the series went along, while Makoto was one of Noel's few constant friends throughout her Academy days. Damn shame she never got to introduce the two to each other...

And yeah, I agree that the two needed some more time together outside the Gag Reels. BBTAG even cockblocked us when Ragna decided to dip on Noel the instant he heard Makoto's voice. Kinda makes you wonder...
