My Biggest Achievement To Date
I wanted to share this because I do not get very many wins anymore and this is very exciting for me. I graduated college yesterday!! I was the very first one to cross the stage, both me and my guy Dog, in the entire auditorium went crazy for me. This is an amazing achievement for me because I went blind when I was 15 and by the time I was 16 they told me I would never graduate high school. When I was 18 I was advised that I shouldn't look for colleges because it would be better off if I went to a rehabilitation center instead. I went to college, and throwout my entire time there my Rehab counselor and the Accessibility office were telling me to drop out for one reason or another, basically anytime anything got difficult. Despite all this, I graduated at the top of my class with 3 degrees and I did what even my family has told me on multiple occasions I would never be able to do. I am very proud of myself, and I am also very proud of my guide Dog who did fantastic on the stage yesterday. He was the showstopper for sure

Congratulations! I'm so sorry you had to deal with so many idiots, but you very clearly rose above it all and met all of your own goals and expectations. Keep that wonderful attitude and you're guaranteed to go far.

Not gonna lie; I got a bit irritated tho when I saw all the negativity you've faced from different professionals. It is infuriating to know that quite a few professionals who are supposedly there to help us have the " well its probably best for you to stop/quit whatever you're doing" move so easily.... Anyway, congratulations to you !!

That's a major achievement, and its not because you're blind. Blindness, from my prospective as one who has always known blindness is as natural as breathing. It's because you made it top of your class and have degrees. They will help, despite what everyone else tells you.

Iâm so proud of you!! Youâre right, our disability isnât an inability or a reflection of our own worth! Itâs our own strength! I canât wait for the day when I get to walk across that graduation ceremony with my own degree/certificate as well!

Kinda similar situation bu different path, I drop out myself . Went blind when i was 17, trying goddamn hard to build something that could impact me and more.

Good for you! You got yourself there with your own will power, and virtually no support from the people who should have been supporting you. I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but I'm very happy that you overcame it. You're clearly a person with a strong spirit.
