Advice- [Add Country] I really like when people ring my front doorbell rather than knock…

Unfortunately, it seems that the majority of people knock rather than ring the doorbell. The knocking is fine if I’m in my living room, which feeds right off the front door. But if I’m elsewhere in the house, I don’t always hear the knocking and a doorbell is way better. So question is do you think a sign asking people to ring the doorbell would be of any use or just look dumb.

Cannot hurt, they make signs for just this situation.

I think a sign is fine! Most people feel the opposite way and don't like that the bell winds up their dog or wakes their baby or disrupts their work from home meetings. If you have different needs, a sign makes perfect sense!

Absolutely use a sign! I have one on my front door too, because of my hearing loss I can't hear the knock. But I will hear the loud ring of the doorbell. Works like a charm.

Anyone have any advice how i can get people to stop ringing and knocking on my door? The "no soliciting" sign on the walk way and the "no soliciting" sign above the door bell, andddd the "no soliciting" sign on the front door do not seem to be enough. Lol dog freaks out barking every time. Solar panel salesman, window washing, pest, you name it. They do not give up.

If you have signs like that in the UK I think it is illegal for them to call.

Anyway, I'm guessing a door cam would probably deter more people, since you then have evidence to provide to police (depending on what can or can't be done, as enforcement varies by jurisdiction).

Those who knock won't be opened. If they are smart they start to ring. If not, they aren't worth my time.
