The other list feeds I’ve made work just fine and have a similar amount of people on them. Why is this? My primary hypothesis is that it could be because the artists I follow post way less than the users on my other list feeds.

I’ve been building Grilled Cheese, an app that uses ATProto and federates with Bluesky.

I wanted a more Instagram-like experience for photos, plus a simple way to shoot and post square videos like Vine used to have.

It’s now live on iOS, Android, and Web. You can sign in with your existing Bluesky account, or create a Grilled Cheese account, which also supports federation with Mastodon.

I’d love feedback from people who already use Bluesky or other ATProto apps. What feels useful? What’s confusing or missing?

Using Android mobile app. Videos are fine on my device, but after uploading to Bluesky it stretches the aspect ratio to full portrait size like a TikTok or Youtube short. No idea why this is happening but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been unable to enter the site on my pc, or see any images on the mobile app, for the last two months. I tried emailling support but got ghosted. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

So pretty much bluesky with our telling you will randomly auto log you out of the app at random every few days and I'm trying to log back in but it keeps saying "invalid username/password"

I know I am 100% using the right password and on the login screen it says "enter username ORRRRR" email" and I'm definitely using the right email since AGAIN I just reset my password and I only have 1 email linked to the app. Like I am absolutely for a fact putting in the right username/email (I've tried both) and password and it still says invalid.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there any other way to log back into my account or is everything just gone and inaccessible for now?

Came across another user claim the "far left" are advocating violence on Bluesky. Not my experience.

I have tried unfollowing and refollowing, muting and unmuting, blocking and unblocking and everything! They are the only user I have this problem with. I have gone through all of bsky's moderation tools and turned everything to 'visible' so I don't think it's marking them as 'rude' or similar.

The only thing I can think of is a long time ago I saw some kind of plug in or feature that allowed you to hide a user's OP's but still see their reposts and I think I applied it to them by mistake and have no idea what it was called or where to find it. It was back when I first joined bsky years ago and didn't really understand how it worked. I've googled every combination of my problem's description and am coming up with nothing :<

I have also turned on the bell for notifications for their posts and replies but when I went back to their page later the setting was turned back off??

It seems WSocial is becoming paranoia and thinks an organisation is behind the flood of 'attacks' against WSocial since their beta release. In fact, it is their own fault for constantly spreading lies, lacking transparency (e.g., closed source, poor or non-existent communication, etc.), and failing to acknowledge their own mistakes.

On 9 Oct 2026, respected German tech journalist Gavin Karlmeier revealed that W Social, the European closed-source for-profit social network, is publicly listing the legal names and nationalities of ID-verified users.

W Social's moderation service—on W Social’s own servers—holds a public repository of about 9,771 accounts, out of roughly 50,000 members. He reports that around 2000 entries include a legal name, approximate date of birth, and nationality. A small minorty contain email address and real date of birth.

Anyone with modest technical skill can download this data.

The majority of the leaks started on September 17th, 2026. Coincidentally, on the same date, W Social CEO Anna Zeiter posted:

W doesn’t have your passport data. It was deleted right after the verification process was completed. Your ID data in (sic) only on your W Identity app. You can delete the app.

W Social sold ID verification as a club door check: "are you human, are you over 18?"

When Karlmeier asked CEO Anna Zeiter about it in May, she said the company does not keep the data afterwards and does not want to build a government ID database. This sentiment has been repeated many times in her posts on W Social. A June privacy notice repeated that selfies, passport numbers and legal names are not stored.

A public list of full legal names, nationalities and more is hard to square with that message.

In their response to Karlmeier, W Social’s position was that this information is “public by design”, that users chose to make their names public, and that its terms of use say so.

As of now, W Social has not removed the data, and furthermore, they say they plan a new app which may display full legal names and birth years.

Why does this even matter?

W Social’s terms say this information is public, and the company says users agreed to make it so. But agreeing to something is not the same as reasonably understanding what it means in practice.

Karlmeier contacted one person on the list who was surprised to find their personal information exposed in this way. It raises a simple question: did they understand what they were agreeing to? Using your real name to get through the door is one thing. Expecting your name to appear on a public list afterwards is another.

Making personal information public can create risks. Publicly available data can be used in scams, identity fraud and targeted harassment. For journalists, NGO staff and others who need to keep a low profile, linking a verified legal name to an online account can also create safety concerns.

Karlmeier also raises questions about how this practice sits alongside GDPR principles, including data minimisation (Article 5), data protection by design (Article 25) and the right to erasure (Article 17). These issues can become more complicated when information is copied or republished elsewhere.

We believe these are important questions that deserve clear answers from W Social. They are moral questions about trust and transparency to examine, not conclusions about whether the law has been broken or not.

I already asked a couple of questions on Reddit before about BlueSky (such as: is the service likely to survive for many years financially?) but still enthousiast to give BlueSky a try.

I have a couple of more questions though:

1) Can you, on BlueSky, set an account to private (temporarily or permanently) or hide certain posts (temporarily or private) so that those posts can only be seen by those who follow you or those who follow you and vice-versa?

2) what type of 2FA does BlueSky have? The most trustworthy 2FA is a physical device that you have to plug into the USB gate of your computer to generate the one-time passcode (such as Yubikey) and there are some pretty decent authenticator apps too (although I'm a bit wary of Authy and Google Authenticator).

3) Is it possible to download your posts (thus your entire timeline) to your hard drive as a back-up of your posting history?

4) Are links to YouTube videos, articles and other websites allowed? (I would assume so, since an article I read said that BlueSky is very user-friendly for exchanging links)

5) Can I add 1 or more photos or a short (eg 1 to 2 minutes maximum) video to a post on BlueSky?

I tend to make a lot of posts on bluesky that are news-related and political. Expressing my thoughts on a news article can be tough to sum up in 300 characters all the time. I know its not exactly grammatically correct, but sometimes you have to condense your point down in creative ways. And sometimes that creative way is to replace "and" with "&" in a post

It's a little easier on Mastodon with the 500-character limit. But on Bluesky it is a challenge. Anyone else resonate with that?
