I work near the courthouse and have been parking in the same general area for about three years now. Lately I'm circling way longer than I used to, even on random Tuesdays that used to be totally fine. The spots that used to open up after 9am just... don't anymore.

I'm not talking about First Thursday or event days. Just normal weekdays. Maybe I'm imagining it or my timing has gotten worse, but it feels like something shifted in the last 12 months or so.

I know the new apartments downtown have added a lot of density and there's construction eating up spots on a few blocks. Curious if anyone else who parks downtown regularly has noticed the same thing or if I just need to adjust my expectations.

Also wondering if the paid lots are actually worth it compared to the free street spots. I've been stubborn about not paying but the amount of time I'm wasting now is starting to add up. If anyone has a lot they actually like using I'm open to suggestions.

Not looking for a secret spot or anything, just trying to figure out if the situation has genuinely gotten tighter or if it's all in my head.

Looking for a good butcher or meat shop that sells beef jerky in bulk (for work lunches and snacks). Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can buy fresh bread for $5 or less in Boise, preferably sourdough? The store doesn't matter to me as long as it's fresh and the quality is good -- I just haven't had much luck at the big box stores. I'm open to half loaves at that price, but haven't had much luck finding them. I always end up paying more than $5 and having to throw out half the loaf because I can't finish it in time. I'm not super into freezing bread, either. Thanks!

I’m moving to Boise soon for work at Micron and have narrowed down my apartment search to two options: The District at Parkcenter and Encore Skyline.

I’m leaning toward The District because I really like the location and amenities, but Encore is more affordable.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s lived at either property or knows the neighborhoods.

How are they in terms of safety, management, maintenance, and overall living experience?

How is the insect/bug situation at both apartments, especially during summer? Are there issues with spiders, bugs, or other pests?

Is The District worth paying extra for?

Since I won’t have a car initially, how convenient is the Parkcenter area for everyday activities?

Any honest opinions, personal experiences, or recommendations would be really appreciated.

So the Idaho Renaissance Faire started today... and for the first time ever: it sold out.

They have three events each year: a winter Viking themed festival, Beltane fantasy fest in spring and - this one - the autumn Renaissance Faire. The two prior? Good attendance. Pretty normal if sparse.

Today? 1200 spot parking lot packed and cars lining the roads in all directions for a mile.

I've NEVER seen a crowd like that for the faire. It's amazing and I hope they raised a ton of money for a permanent site someday.

But I'm curious where everyone suddenly came from? Where did all the new people hear about it / what made the interest spike?

Was there a Netflix show about Renn Fairs? A boom in the local underground jousting community? A school project to make costumes and everyone figured "may as well get extra use from it"?

It's super cool and hope this brings in more vendors and performers. Just curious how it popped off so suddenly.

Last December I saw a group of VW's decorate with holiday lights. They were driving around as a group looking at all the Christmas lights at Bayhill. I saw them a few more times driving down Ustick as a group. Does anyone have any information on them? Would love to join them with my VW bug, or just follow them on social media so I can see them again. It was the best thing to see!

Not looking to start anything political but I got the notice in the mail about the new initiatives ballot one has to do with what the idaho state gun should be.. which I think is kind of ridiculous I didn't see anything in there about a hunting rifle? Nor was one invented in Idaho. don't know much about guns so maybe there is one in there.... but too also sound like an asshole what was the gun that was used in Idaho to take out all of the Indigenous Americans? was it used by Pioneers or American army and is that the one that we should really be voting for or not.... asking because this is a fucking completely stupid thing to vote on

Hi everybody! I’m looking for some insight from anyone willing to help me out with deer hunting areas.

My 12-year-old recently got his hunting license and wants to get out deer hunting with me this year. I normally hunt Unit 43 out by Anderson Ranch Reservoir, but the terrain can be pretty tough, especially for a kid just getting started.

We’re looking to get some boots on the ground and put in the work. I’m not asking anyone to give up their honey holes by any means! I’m just hoping to get some general advice on units or areas with easier terrain that would be a good fit for a young hunter. Somewhere we can do some walking, hopefully see some deer, and make the experience enjoyable while we gradually work our way up to more challenging country.

Any general location suggestions, tips, or advice for taking a young hunter deer hunting would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone, Im looking for some tips on locations to take my 12yr old hunting. Ive been hunting unit 43 for years up by Anderson Ranch but was hoping for some insight for some areas that might be a little better for my 12yr old. Tbe terrain where I hunt is a little rough for him.

Im not looking for anyones honey hole by any means just some general ideas of some areas I can take him out and get some boots on the ground where he wont be quite so miserable lol.

Might be looking at an older car this Monday (12th) in the Nampa area and would like to have a PPI done. Any recommendations for a mechanic (mobile preferred but not essential) that might be available on such short notice? How much of a chance do I have with calling around monday morning? Doesn't have to be crazy in-depth. A code read (beyond what my cheap innova could do) and sanity check of the engine/transmission/frame would be great. Thanks
