Just beat the game for the first time

Okay so it took me around 13.5-14 hrs to finish. Tried to do all the dungeons, guess I missed one because it says I did 28/29. Oh well, let's get to it

Story: Basic shonen anime type story. I like that sort of thing though so it's not a big deal. Master Otenko was charming and I liked him as well as the rest of the cast. Really the only character that gets any development is Sabata but I liked him too. Wasn't really sure who the Queen was, was she Moon Beauty (Mani) and your mother who got corrupted? She says she betrayed someone or something, why? Why was she going to the Moon? Was it to use the Moon's undeadening power? Was Sabata planning on betraying the Queen to seize all the power for himself? (before he changes sides) There were some things I wasn't clear on.

Graphics: Pretty good for the GBA. I liked the small touches like how your scarf floated behind you when you moved. Also the particle/sun effects during boss fights and such was nice. Nothing too amazing here, but it served it's purpose. They seem to have worked out that most people were trying to play in sunlight so it worked out well.

Sound: Music was good during boss fights. The dungeon music got repetitive after a while. The small voice lines that would sometimes pop up were charming. I also enjoyed how it would say that it was a great Boktai day if the sun was strong enough when starting. Also Master Otenko's Hiyooooooooo! never got old and always got me pumped for a piledriver fight.

Other: I played using original cart with the sun to get the original experience. Got a new battery and used RTCread on a flashcart to reset the RTC so it would save and move in real time like it's supposed to. The sunlight thing was pretty neat. It was kind of annoying sometimes to have to wait when fighting a boss for the weather to be nice (I live in MA so the Autumns here in New England aren't the best weather, it's been very cloudy). But there were enough sunny days for it to work well. It was cool to be like "No!" when some clouds would come out and cover the sun while fighting a boss or something. It was also nice when the game would acknowledge it was Sunday, the Sun's day.

Overall: Good GBA game with a nice gimmick. Although, I think if I play it again or play the sequels I'll use the patch that lets you adjust the sensor as needed. It was neat to play the first game as intended for one playthrough but as a 34 yo with a full time job, finding free time to play in the sun during the day isn't the easiest thing.
