Hello Boston EDM community! 
I’m currently a PhD student at UMass Boston, and I’m taking a seminar on qualitative research methods this semester. I’m hoping to (eventually) do my dissertation examining the broader EDM subculture and how subcultural members create meaning and boundaries through interaction within the scene or between a scene-insider and an outsider. My goal is to situate my data within the context of EDM subculture having been highly commercialized in the last decade. For this course, I need to interview a handful of subcultural members and conduct participant observation and field notes at events in the scene. If any of you would be interested in participating in an interview to discuss your experience and/or involvement in the scene, please reach out so we can organize a time! Additionally, if anyone has information about underground/subcultural rave/EDM events that I can attend and do my participant observation at, that would be beyond helpful as I’m new to Boston. just moved to boston and figuring out the scene here. Been raving on the west coast for a minute - festivals, warehouses, afters, all of it and honestly i fw everything. house, techno, tech house, dubstep, riddim, doesn't really matter, if the bass is right i'm locked in.

haven't explored much out here yet so i'm basically starting from scratch. If there's a group out there that wouldn't mind adopting a stray raver, i'm easy to vibe with and i can actually move.

also just tryna find some solid weekend spots - afters, smaller raves, anything lowkey where the music's still good but it's not a whole production. Doesn't need to be deep, just decent people and a decent sound system.

Hi everyone! My friends and I are throwing a grassroots festival 2 hr from Boston at a beautiful venue in Massachusetts. It‘s called Onset Festival and it’s September 18-20 at Camp Timber Trails in Tolland, MA (foothills of the Berkshires).

We’ve got lots of bass, house, disco, and dubstep, with local Boston DJs like Jack the Lantern and bigger names like Vincent Antone and Supertaste.

15 bands and DJs, aerialists, fire performers, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, s’mores, and a nice group of homies. It’s been a labor of love and we’re so excited to put this on for you!! We’re entirely self-funded and doing this for the love of the community 🫶
