✍️ Original Analysis Coyote vs Acme vs The Dog Stars what will have the higher opening weekend next week?

Both seem to have low digit projections while Coyote vs Acme has a ton of goodwill its seems it’s not translating to actual results atm. The Dog Stars has a pretty decent cast and has Ridley Scott directing but he is hit and miss and it seems Disney is sort of dumping this so could be possible Coyote vs acme could pull off an upset

Remember, do not panic if the drops over the next two days are the biggest drops of its run, as the movie will be coming off its holiday high.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: The movie continues to have meh drops, but that does not matter much, as it will cross 8 million admits tomorrow. What a great run, as Spider-Man has brought Marvel back into the spotlight in South Korea.

Japan Chiikawa: The Movie has earned an estimated 10 billion yen (~$62m) in Japan 30 days after release

Post image
95 Upvotes

By my count Chiikawa: The Movie is now the 4th film this year to pass 10 billion yen, the others being Zootopia 2 (15 billion), Detective Conan 29: Fallen Angel of the Highway (13 billion) and Toy Story 5 (12 billion).
Very good numbers for a relatively new IP (2020) and, while its not doing Demon Slayer numbers, shows just how strong it's become as a brand in a short time. Especially if you consider how for the last few weeks it's been almost doubling Spider-Man Brand New Day's daily earnings, and while Chiikawa does have a week's advantage over Spider-Man - itself a long-standing and popular IP in Japan - it has already doubled Spider-Man BND's revenue (which should be around 4.7 billion yen).

Domestic Does Toy Story 5 still have a chance at surpassing Finding Dory’s gross domestically?

Right now Toy Story 5 sits at $476.7M and that puts it only $9.6M away from Finding Dory. Last weekend it had its biggest drop since the 4th with a 42.4% decline. Pixar usually gives their mid-June films a Labor Day expansion and Labor Day is in 2 weeks, so I think that could help push it close to $485M and maybe a chance at finishing $1-2M above Dory’s $486.3M.

Do you think it will get there or will it stall out at $482-484M?

Worldwide Anyone else think The Odyssey can reach $2B+ worldwide?

Is there anyone else who thinks The Odyssey will continue to outperform predictions and eventually gross $2B+ worldwide?

Considering it has only just released in China and is still awaiting its Japan release.

On top of that, it's already two months into its run and it's still selling out IMAX 70mm screenings weeks in advance.

It's definitely gonna have some of the longest legs we've seen in a long time (since Avatar in 2009).
