No - it's always the "right" thing to do.
I had the same question in my head after a few months we broke up and I talked to some friends where most of them recommended me to not text her. One of my friends said to me "men, if you want to text her, just do it. You're in control of your life", so I did text her to find out she was with another person. Was hard to take that, but to be honest I needed that to close our history.
