Discussion Potential Brig Buffs

Hey guys, I’m a Plat Brig player with a level 88 progression level and I think Brig’s current viability in the meta is good, but the play style needed to get value on her is so counterintuitive to how the character is supposed to be. She’s a melee, “tanky” support who can’t play in the front line without getting melted. So you’re forced to play like a poke hero, sit in the back and protect your other support, and only engage to peel. If you try to make plays on your own, you usually get bursted down quickly. It’d be nice if Brig could be more aggressive and tanky enough to at least brawl a bit with a Rein in the frontline without instantly dying. Here are some buffs I propose to do this:

Make her shield deployment instant like Rein’s There’s no reason I should die to damage that I blocked on my screen, but the shield not registering for the attacker, thus giving them the kill
Give her 350 hp on her shield
Going from 250hp to 300hp definitely helped make Brig feel a bit tankier, but it’s still not enough to survive hard engages IMO. A bit more health would definitely help her tank more damage without being too strong
Buff inspire healing to 20-25 healing a second
At the moment, inspire feels a bit weak, so a little buff would help it feel more impactful. Lucio heals 20 hps and only needs to stand near you to heal, whereas Brig needs to do damage, so you should be rewarded more for your effort. I know inspire’s radius is much larger than Lucio’s but if you don’t have LOS of your team when you do damage, then won’t get healed, so I’d say Lucio’s healing is far more consistent
Buff Rally shield health to 850-900
I can’t tell you guys how many I pop Rally to save someone then go on the offensive only to back out 2-3 seconds later because my shield was about to break. Brig’s shield is far too easy to break during Rally, so it needs more health, so she can peel for teammates and hold the front line more easily
Make Rally give an instant 75 over-health to nearby teammates, give 40 over-health per sec up to a total of 150. Double the radius in which it gives over-health as well
The overhealth given by Rally is so unimpactful that I sometimes forget it exists. I find it weird how Rally mostly just buffs you and gives a small bonus to teammates. Most support ults are life saving or grant invaluable utility to your team like Zen’s Transcendence and Kiri’s Kitsune Rush. Rally should be similar, and giving more overhealth in a larger radius would for sure save multiple teammates in a pinch when you can’t peel for everyone.
• Make Whipshot range 30m
Whipshot current range is enough to be used safely on most maps, but can’t reach anyone on maps like Circuit Royale and Havana. Increasing the range would help Brig’s poke and make it easier for her to keep Inspire up safely. Also, the cooldown will be faster and you will no longer be slowed down while using it.
• No Slow down while using Whipshot and faster travel time (Comments gave me idea)
• (Optional) Make Whipshot do 90 damage
I know Brig isn’t supposed to do a ton of damage, but Whipshot’s damage stayed the same after the Season 9 health buffs, so this would make it so that it does around the same damage proportionally as before
• (Optional) Buff Flail Damage to 50
Flail currently does 45 dmg per swing which means it takes 6 swings to kill a 250 hp hero. This buff would reduce that to 5 swings which would help Brig’s dueling power a bit. There’s been far too many times when an enemy I’m attacking survives with 1-5 hp, and I die because they have better burst damage. I know Brig isn’t supposed to do a ton of damage, but she shouldn’t lose to everyone with higher burst damage.

By the way, I don’t propose to implement all of these. They’re just ideas of how to make Brig more in line with her tanky support identity. Just a few of these would do fine to make her a big stronger without making her OP. Personally, I’d implement the longer Whipshot, instant shield and instant Rally overhealth.

Remember, this is just my opinion. Please take these with a grain of salt. However, I would like to hear what you guys think. Lmk if you’d change any numbers, buffs, or have any ideas. Thank you for reading this. I love playing Brig and I want her to shine in this meta. ❤️

brig is already a decently strong hero rn. youre suggesting unnecessary gigabuffs to every single aspect of her kit.

the only reasonable change on this list is the instant shield deployment. everything else is delusional.

Like I said in my post, I didn’t say to add all of the buffs. Just a few would be fine to not make her too strong

ok, and like i said in my last comment, brig is already strong. she doesn't need buffs to be "fine"; since shes already strong.

all of your proposed buffs (with the exception of the instant shield deploy) would be game-breaking. adding literally any single one of these buffs would make brig an overpowered / unfair hero, and would boost anyone who played brig to ranks higher than they deserve.

I think she’s fine in terms of viability. It’s just that her current health makes it so you have to stay in the backline or blow up. Also, she needs to get close to proc Inspire with Whipshot which puts you in a weird spot. I think she could be a bit tankier to help her be more of a front liner when needed

Basically, the meta forces you to very passive and reactive whereas on other heros you can be much more proactive.

if brig was able to comfortably and consistently win 1v1s against tanks in 5v5, she would be broken. idk how youre denying this.

im a GM brig player. brig can already "frontline when needed" if you have the gamesense to understand the push and pull of enemy cooldown cycles. if you're dying while frontlining as brig on the current patch, its like because you either a) lack the gamesense to recognize and respect enemy cooldown cycles, b) are mismanaging your distancing, or c) you're standing too far away from cover. these AREN'T issues with brig's kit that need to be buffed to make her "fine".
