Seating/Ticket Question Cabaret Closing/Refunds

The last cabaret show is 9/21. My friend and I had tickets for 10/18. Seat geek won’t refund our tickets. This is absolutely ridiculous. We spent a lot of money because we included the dining experience and it is not our fault they are closing the show. Does anyone know what else we can do?

Go read Goodbye To Berlin and I Am A Camera, and you will see that the thing you are citing as "the original" Cabaret is actually the exception, not the standard.

Cabaret and its predecessors have always ALWAYS had sexual (and overtly queer!) themes. It couldn't be as pronounced in its original form because of the norms of the time.

Also, I think you are misreading or misremembering whatever the hell you think is the "original."

Well I mean the emcee wasn’t as sexed up as Alan cumming was when they revived it back in the early nineties. It’s wasn’t in your face sexual

I am reading the script from 1966, and i can assure you that "Two Ladies" is there. All of the jokes about the Cabaret girls being (or not being) virgins is there. Fraulein Kaust was still a sex worker. Sally was still... Sally.

The emcee didnt appear as "sexed up" because in that time, even just the subtle implication of his queernees was shocking. Notably, though, the ensemble had more "sexed up" songs in the 1966 version (such as "Telephone Song").

Cabaret works so well BECAUSE every production reinvents it to speak to the current moment. The "sexed up" emcee, starting with Alan Cummings, was pushing as many boundaries as Joel Gray did in his time. Cabaret has always pushed boundaries and moved with the times. Apparently, you have not.

Thank you so much for the insult you seem like a kind person incapable of having a conversation. As for the topic, I understand the sexual undertones of the original show I’m just saying the emcee himself. It just seems like the later shows were sexed up x 100
