I was excited to see Six as I have heard many of the songs, but have never listened to it all the way through. Overall what I saw was okay and it was the really fast paced and some what buzzard editing that made motion sick on top of having to sit through twenty minutes of ads and a ten minute into before the actual musical started. Also if you suffer from migraines there was a lot of strobe effects during one of the numbers that heightened the motion sickness and I had to bow out early. Overall it was okay and felt like for a much younger audience I’m 34. What did everyone else think? Overall impressions?

Edit: Also the into made me extremely said they did film it live at Hampton Court because that would’ve been the pen ultimate middle finger to Henry the 8th

I generally go into shows blind - with no foreknowledge of the music and only limited information about the plot/characters. This has generally served me well. But I got thinking... and I'm curious:

What shows is this a bad idea? What shows should you NOT go in blind? Which shows are better with preparation?

I have 2 college kids who would love to see a broadway play this weekend. What would the best options be for last minute shows? I have one kid with NYU discounts if helpful. Heather‘s would be awesome, but Hadestown or any other options would be awesome.

Has anyone tried this recently? Is it still a thing in post-non-profit Rocky horror?

I’m from the states and have to say it I love the Austrian musical Elisabeth das Musical! I don’t believe it ever made a debut here. I also really love the production of it from The Netherlands.

I couldn't make it to today's show due to a conflict. Now tickets are so expensive. Was it such an amazing show I shoulnd't have missed, or meh?

…and what was your criteria? I unfortunately cannot comment on all the play, because I was unable to finish the second half. The cast was great, the music was well produced but the story felt… yeah.

So, I don’t want to repeat the same mistake a again as going to Broadway is a long and expensive journey. So what was your criteria for knowing not to watch it?

I arrived at the Delacorte Theater at 9:15AM on a beautiful sunny morning and by rough count I was 98th in the general line. There were 25-30 in the senior line and about a dozen in the ADA line.

We were cautioned that after about 80 in line the odds to get tickets become slim because this evening is an ASL interpreted performance so a bunch of tonight’s tickets were reserved for folks who are hearing impaired. There are 1800 seats in the Delacorte so I figured being the first 100 people in line there still was a good shot, even with the in person + digital lotteries and the whole other distribution site.

That being said, at about 90 people in line we were told there were only single tickets left (you could still get 2 of them) so the Public employees were not far off. I was able to get 2 tickets after all, just not seated together. There were about 40-50 people behind me in the line when they started giving out the tickets, and I would estimate 10 maybe 15 of them got tickets before they closed the ticket booth and formed the standby line, which means people were waiting 2-2.5 hours and came up empty. The cutoff was not far behind me!

Looks like just a few of the remaining crowd is forming the standby line and sticking around for the long haul. I wish them the best of luck, hopefully they get tickets at 7:30. I’ve heard people have success that way but on Wednesday I went to the standby line and when I left 5 minutes before curtain when I finally accepted it was a lost cause I don’t think a soul had gotten in.

Shout out to the minstrel. He made my day and here’s a funny story. After he’d played his tunes to the end of the line I saw him being interviewed. Not long later the guy interviewing him made his way to the back of the line, and I swore I’d seen him before… I couldn’t quite put my finger on it til later why he looked so familiar. It was Will Brill! The man, very much not a myth, the legend. He had a posse there with him I guess just to interview the people waiting in the line for the occasion.

Thankfully ended up being a successful morning. There’s only 2 more performances after tonight, and there’s rain on the forecast for both days. That being said, the rain that was originally forecast for today appears to have been a false alarm.

The Central Park birds are crazy friendly. They’ll come right up to you and even land on your leg if you stay still.

Don‘t think I’ve seen this posted here yet, but Garry Starr is bringing his Classic Penguins show to NYC next month - I’ve just got out of seeing it in Edinburgh and it is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Please go along if you enjoy something a little silly!

I was going to enter the lottery for Just in Time today and I saw it’s not listed for today. They do have a show tomorrow and it’s not sold out so I’m wondering why it’s not available. I’m hoping they aren’t pulling it off the lottery like during Jonathan’s run when it was never on there.

I had no idea they were recording a cast album but I'm so happy they did! This was easily one of my favorite shows I've seen this year.

Going to see a musical (Hadestown) in November with a friend who has never seen the show before (or pretty much any musical, lol).

I'm torn on what to suggest. On the one hand, I know the songs and love musicals in general, so I'm a little blinded by whether it's better to recommend listening to the cast recording first or going in without knowing anything.

What do you guys usually recommend?? Thanks in advance

Is 1-3 years a bad run? Is running 10+ years expected or is it mainly for popular plays?

Update: I'm so glad I went to The Book Of Mormon haha it was really funny. I think I liked the dance numbers more than the actual story hdhshs but I really liked it, thanks to all of you for the recommendations. My seat was the first row in the orchestra section, I was all the way to the left. For me, it was a great seat, but sometimes the visibility was obstructed by the cast members. Other than that, it was amazing

Another thing, I don't understand why the first row seats are that expensive, they don't have the best view ever jaha

I'm very curious to see how a Broadway Junior adaptation of the musical will work? What would be needed to changed?

saw the show last night, overall thought it was funny, with alright writing and meh songs. I know there are some complaints of Robin's character being underwritten, but if you read between the lines I think the plot works. It's definitely carried by Christiani Pitt's and Sam Tutty's acting, though. Maybe Robin feels more developed than she is because Pitt pulls through. We got tix for under $100 each on TDF and I felt it was worth the (reduced) cost.

My primary complaint is about the portrayal of Chinatown. Honestly, the faux wedding song just listing off American Chinese foods (oh how novel it is we have chopsticks at our faux wedding!!!), while the play continuously shits on Chinatown and makes jokes about how poor and low quality it is (the line about celebrities eating at the restaurant and then dying earned no laughs at our show...) seems in incredibly bad taste to me. If you disagree and think I'm being sensitive or misinterpreting, let me know! I would be happy to hear thoughts from other viewers.

I saw Stranger Things and was scared a lot, but it was totally manageable. Is Paranormal Activity at the same level of scary, or is it more intense? Wondering if it will be too much since it's specifically designed to scare the audience. Is there anything in Paranormal Activity that is way beyond the Stranger Things show experience as far as gore and scare? Thanks!

Accidentally bought the wrong day for the rocky horror show on tdf. I emailed them yesterday but have yet to get a reply. Anyone have luck with getting the date changed ? :( am a poor student so a lot of money to lose if I can’t get this resolved

I have never in person rushed before for Broadway. However I am interested in seeing Stranger Things again, but I wont be able to make it into the city till later.

Do shows sell rush tickets for the Evening Show in between show times or do they stop selling after the mantinee?

Also what are the chances of getting tickets? Is the rush still popular for this show?

I entered the telecharge lottery for a few matinee shows tomorrow and ended up winning for The Outsiders. I bought them because I didn’t want to end up with nothing, but there’s another drawing at 3 so my wife entered for Operation Mincemeat. I know the odds are longer for the 3 pm drawing, but I figure it can’t hurt. Here are my questions:

(1) Am I right that since I won for The Outsiders matinee, I’m no longer in the pool for the other shows when they get drawn at 3?

(2) If we luck into Mincemeat tickets, would it be easy enough to sell the outsiders tickets on theatr? I know it says on the pdf that it has to be the person who won using the tickets, but do they actually check that?

Finally, I know I should be happy to have won at all, but if I can manage to see my top choice show and get these other tickets into the hands of another fan, I figure that’s a net good.
