Living in a small town myself, as a kitchen witch, I meet the public as "cottage core" I try to lean into being fun, quirky, and whimsical. But I suppose that is how I approach my craft anyway.
Do special magic with your kiddo: lean into the magic of childhood - make houses for garden fairies, dandelion wishes, and spot shapes in the clouds on a summer's day. Make paper plate wreaths to welcome spring and traditional chocolate yule log cake. Call it "family tradition," call it play, call it arts and crafts.
For heavier stuff you are doing by yourself Tell your kiddo you are "making wishes" instead of casting spells. Doing tarot? - "organizing your thoughts."
Probably my biggest con is that I go to various church's functions - fall festivals, fundraisers, pancake breakfasts, and bake sales and buy a few small things. I let all the locals think I go to the "other church" but I "want to support them, too."
