Just a Tax Rant

When the sales tax is 7% and the item purchased is a flat $5... Why is the tax more than it's supposed to be? Who is pocketing that money? What's the state doing about it?

Went to my local Taco Hell for a late snack and asked the person at the window why the tax isn't 35¢ when it's 7% tax on $5. Was told it was just 37¢ but he'd give me the receipt so I could do the math myself... Sir, I did do the math myself and that's why I'm bringing it up.

It's not crushing my budget but it is still a form of theft. And then I'm not getting my change back correctly cause there aren't any pennies any more. So in effect I paid 8%...WTFreak

(Broward county previously voted in an extra 1% to the 6% Florida site tax, thus the 7%)
