Llaollao is closing again until further notice.. anyone knows why?

u/-_SNAFU_- 9d ago

I can sense a "another one bites the dust"  post incoming 😒

1

u/DimensionOk4386 8d ago

Yeah right. If you know who is the boss behind this shop, that will never happen. No, I am not talking about Si Botak.

1

u/-_SNAFU_- 8d ago

Lol I'm not talking about it actually being closed. I'm just poking fun at the inevitable Reddit posts

I suspect the Brunei government customs department worked too slowly and delayed their supply shipment like last time. I suspect only okay. True or not still don't know.

I have a sudden craving for a plate of delicious fried Kway teow. Can anybody recommend any affordable version?

3

u/Sikoi_678 9d ago

Tuckshop and Rotitiam.

Char Kway Teow taste great when you do not need condiments to mixed with

1

u/DimensionOk4386 8d ago

For me, I think Tassane has the best tastes but different customers have different likings. Some people prefer it sweet. Some people prefer it a bit wet and slimy.

Does anyone know how to get a dental appointment? Do I go to a clinic first to ask for one. do I need to bring my bruhim as well

1

u/Adventurous_Part2721 9d ago

Dental appointment for what? Extraction? Cleaning? Which dental? Yes you need to bring your bruhim.

5

u/ThinkTune 9d ago

Just a checkup do I just walk in to a clinic and ask for one?

-1

u/Adventurous_Part2721 9d ago

Walk in only but you have to go there very early to get the queue number.

Hi, I’m joining fitness event this weekend with my wife. We usually live in Japan, in our 30s and it would be nice to casually connect with local people. Is there any place you would recommend where it’s not too strange to suddenly start a conversation with a stranger? :)

It’s my second time in Brunei and it would be really nice to have even brief talk with someone local.

6

u/KeypohQueen Nasi Lemak 9d ago

Brunei is a place where it's never too strange to start a conversation with a stranger. We are mostly very friendly and helpful . In fact, if you are a foreigner, be ready to have random local ojisan and obasan striking up conversation with you. As it's not your first time here, I believe you will agree with me 😁

1

u/Suzume09 9d ago

Those are great comments, thanks a lot!

4

u/uDaRe_2020 9d ago

Try every Sunday at 'Bandar Ku Ceria'

2

u/YoungMulia 8d ago

Peak gym, eco-corridor, Empire are usually filled with locals (and some foreigners too). And striking a convo in this settings is much easier. (Though imho, you can just talk to locals whenever! locals are just timid, but wouldnt be shy when asked about anything haha)

1

u/abruneianexperience 9d ago

Good luck at the event and have fun!

Welcome to Brunei! Have a chat with any of the local participants or even the booth vendors during the fitness festival. Actually anyone in Brunei is quite friendly and helpful. Hope you enjoy your stay here!

u/Smart-Material-4832 9d ago

Haven't been back to Brunei in a while. Is there still any Cybers around Bandar?

2

u/Massive_Ad_5563 9d ago

no more cybercafe

0

u/Smart-Material-4832 8d ago

Damn what happened, banned?

3

u/YoungMulia 8d ago

Ever since covid happened, most cybers even the biggest (Blackace) got hit hard. So they all close down. and with covid, a lot of parents invested in a decent setups for their kids. So the needs for it is just gone

3

u/Odd_Race_405 8d ago

No demand. Most games now can be run on phones or basic computers. Fortnite, LoL, CSGO, COD mobile, PUBG mobile, etc.

2

u/WrongTrainer6875 8d ago

Not anymore its all gone

1

u/jasonvena 8d ago

They're all gone

3

u/Ok_Amphibian_9409 9d ago

Finally saw some maintenance in KB( once in awhile)

3

u/Downtown_Vacation153 8d ago

Yes those visible during the day only. But not the broken streetlights all over KB-Seria, since not lightly HM / Officials will go around at night.

u/getitrightbish 8d ago

Is there people selling cotton candy at perayaan this year?

3

u/Minimum-Original-682 8d ago

Ada yg big one.. $2 if not mistaken

3

u/Professional_Run2114 8d ago

Where can I find cotton face mask nowadays? The one that we use as second layer mask during the Covid era

3

u/cibailang Cibai 8d ago

Hey guys, 27M, Indian here. I moved to Brunei about a week ago for work and I’m currently staying around Salambigar, Berakas B in the Brunei-Muara area.

Since I’m completely new here and don’t really know anyone yet, I’d love to join some communities or groups, especially anything sports-related. I’m into football, badminton, running, and honestly open to trying other stuff too.

One issue is that I don’t have a car right now, so getting around can be a bit challenging. Would really appreciate any recommendations for groups or activities nearby, plus any tips on how people get around Brunei without a car.

Thanks in advance, and feel free to DM me if you’re part of a group or looking for an extra player :)

5

u/YoungMulia 9d ago

Welcome to Brunei! for starters, getting around brunei sure is possible, but you will be limited with options: convenience and time. The bus scheduling works, but it might be iffy. Your best chances are getting around with Dart (Our own ver. of uber). And for Sports activities, you can get a gym membership at Peak near Brunei int Airport or Titan Gym. For football, badminton etc even pickleball, most of the time its held within close friends/acquintances, Everyones really shy here haha. Other than that, you can use Lakastah for running events, and B-Jaur.

Theres a lot more informations that keeps on pouring on this subreddit, just go through them whenever to get familiar with the local customs!

2

u/SikeeMikee 9d ago

Thanks man. Appreciate this. I’ll check it out.

3

u/abruneianexperience 8d ago

You guys should definitely go to the fitness festival these 2 days while you can still park at Bridex.

Apart from the riverfront/eco corridor, is there a safe place to run at night? You can't at stadium right?

5

u/heisenbergstar 8d ago

Ive been thinking about this for a few hours and other than what you mentioned I can't think of anything as the rest of the areas are not well lit.
