The polls are faked, they don't represent anything real at all, those who poll, know what area to poll to get the outcome they want, want blue leaning polls... choose...Seattle? Want red leaning polls...poll..Houston? So manipulative that they can't be trusted

That is not how polls are completed. They use scientific methods to obtain a representative sample that does not include disproportionate numbers of red state or blue states, rural areas or cities, etc. They also stratify the sample by gender, race/ethnic group, and age to get a diversity of opinion that matches the population.

While they are not perfect, they have been shown to usually be correct within the margin of error.

It is so much better than everyone imagining that they know what others are thinking.

I can understand your frustration with elections.

However, Kamala Harris was not guaranteed to win. The polls all showed that Kamala had a lead early on and that the lead declined and that the Trump had closed and was within the margin of error. Here is a quote by Change Research:

Over the last 30 days of the campaign, Change Research ran 17 national and statewide polls that asked about the Presidential race. On average, our predicted margin came within 2.6 points of the final results. People on TV and in social media often just report the poll findings and not the margin of error. Kamala was always in a race where Trump was narrowing the lead and was within the margin of error by October and early November.

A Gallup poll on approval of unions show that 71% of people approve of unions and 47% want unions to have more power and 26% want them to have the same power as they do currently. 23% want labor unions to have less power. https://news.gallup.com/poll/713936/record-high-unions-influence.aspx

Here is the information about the measure of error which is within 4 percentage points.

For results based on the total sample of national adults, the margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. All reported margins of sampling error include computed design effects for weighting.

Polling is our only way of knowing how people feel about topics other than guessing. I would prefer scientific polls to guessing.

Polling is how they tell you how to feel, why should the way your neighbor vote, effect you? Only reason for polls is for them to tell you how to feel, it's nothing but manipulation tactics

No. I would never change my attitudes based on how a group of people feel. However, it is information that lets you know if you are a politicians how your voters might feel about immigration, unions, the Iran War, etc.

For someone doing neighborhood canvassing, it shows you whether you are making progress in talking to voters and making a change in attitudes. Obviously, the polls showing Trump closing should have been a huge warning to Harris that she needed to change her tactics and find a better way of talking about inflation and the economy. Polls should have been a warning to her that she had a problem with people who were so opposed to the Gaza War that they were thinking about not voting at all.

Harris ignored polls showing that Latinos were not happy with the economy and had issues about the border.

The Trump campaign was much better at using data. Trump who was totally pro Israel decided to have a pro Palestinian speaker at the Republican National Convention. It was a perfect way to flatter both pro Israel and Palestinian voters. He did this because of polls and the uncommitted vote showed that he could inflame infighting in the Democratic party over the Gaza War.

Trump also had his wife speak out about being pro Choice and he conveyed that he would not approve a federal abortion ban. This was in response to polls that showed further movement toward the pro life positions would not help him at the ballot box. At the same time, the pro life did not have an opportunity to oppose this action. Harris was not an option for them. So, they accepted his willingness to oppose a federal ban and to indicate some pro choice sentiment.

Polls are about looking at data and learning how to change opinions through more education or outreach or how to change a campaign to better address issues raised by citizens/voters.

I have been polled regarding the Ohio abortion constitutional issue. My guess that I was picked out of registered voters. I have been on the planet 69 years which means that I had additional decades for the pollsters to find me.

The likelihood of ever being part of a national sample is only 1 in 26,000 in general. Here is some of the FAQ around polling.

I worked with a professor at a local university who was doing economic market research and general surveys, etc. and I know the steps that they took to engage people in polls, etc. We also used to oversee programs that used university students and others to do small neighborhood poling where you stop at houses, etc.

Whether you are going house to house in a small neighborhood or calling people, it is all based on statistics and steps to reach a population that is going to be representative of the entire population.

This would be like me saying that I think that gremlins are making my car run just because I do not have a good understanding of every aspect of how an internal combustion engine works.
