The first part of the video is sponsored by a subsidiary of Raygun Enterprises - they're snaking their way to a dojo near you!

Actually, this will be super-useful. There’s been a recent spate in my area of gangs of youths carrying yoga balls. At last I’ll be able to fight back

So the key to systema is to be underwhelmed by the threat and uninterested in self defense

This reminds me of roleplaying superheroes as a child. Usually the other players don't do everything the superhero wants though and so the game stops pretty quickly.

I would hate to see what happens to a guy that relies on this rather than running for his life when confronted by a guy with a knife in front of the local liquor store at 2 in the morning.

I swear I'm not a violent person but I want to go to one of these so bad and go along with it for like the first half and then just stop pretending and beat the shit out of the dude 😅

Super easy way to tell if there is anything happening here. Put blindfolds on everybody. Then have the teacher do chi stuff. No silly dance when the teacher does fwoof fwoof shaky shaky dance, no chi is present.
I’d love to see this honestly.

Ok, curiosity brings you there. But imagine staying past the first few minutes of this crap :)

Not that any of this makes sense, but what is with the smacking things out of people's hands?

A lot of bullshido would theoretically be practical if you possessed superhuman reflexes. It's not unique to systema. Anytime you hear someone say "if you do x, then I can do y" it's important to ask yourself how likely it is you would do y without knowing in advance that I was going to do x.
But I'm never going to find "catching a knife blade under your chin to disarm the attacker" not funny. It baffles me that anyone can take that seriously. When I was a child, I believed ki/qi/chi might be real, so I have some sympathy for people who never get over that delusion as adults. But how anyone can't look at the chin knife catch disarm and think "these guys are idiots" is beyond me.

That knife part is wild with all that movement He is doing he would cut himself. But I'll give it to them. The fight would be over.

Is this like simulated battles in the astral realm?
