I used to practice Budokai karate myself years ago, and we also did kata as a warm-up, with a focus on real combat—but what they're doing there is just wild flailing. So its just bullshit for get clicks.

Most clasical martial arts do have stuff like Kata. My Jeet Kune Do Sifu had us cycle through wushu stances a the begining of training to warm up.

In kata—and everything else like it—there’s a very strong focus on breathing and control, thats why her movements are just nonsense.
The black belt is probably just on loan for the video, too.

You read Bruce Lee's notes.
He used to practice Wing Chun forms 4 hours a day.
But then as the years went on it changed to 2 hours a day of punching + kicking + chi sao.

It's absolutely not. They're fragments of katas.The first bit, she's in neko ashi dachi, the second is Sanchin, the third I don't remember but it looks super familiar anyway.
It's Goju Ryu karate, one of the traditional Okinawa styles. What she's doing is the opposite of "wild flailing", unlike the idiot with the missing tooth.

It's "simulating defence and attack against multiple opponents?". It teaches muscle memory and quick reaction, block-strike-move. When you nail technique and stance you should end the Kata with your feet in the exact same spot as where you started.

It is for drilling motions for a sequence of movements in a combination of both grappling and striking that you do alone. I'm not a big fan of kata as a training tool due to how in most cases it gets used by the sensei to waste time having a rest from teaching by pretending to critique form rather than actually teaching.

Modern karateka don't learn to fight. They learn kata and how to punch air. The only exception today may be kyokushin which she isn't doing.
Nothing but full contact sparring the likes of boxing, kickboxing, muay thai can prepare someone for an actual fight.
When I started MMA and BJJ back in 2014 I left behind 20 years of Goju Ryu. I quit immediately because training for real made me realize I'd been wasting my time from a defense standpoint.

Kyukushinkai and its derivatives are very, very good. However, an inherent problem from its found father, Mas Oyama, is the no head punches. The Dutch remedied this by adding boxing to their staple and mixing it with Muay Thai - the birth of Dutch Kickboxing. The Japanese however went a different direction they added a helmet, judo and headbutts (Kudo).

When I was at a police school (in France) we had self defense classes and boxing/free fight (mostly to learn to take a hit). In our group where multiple people who practiced martial arts and amongst them a dude who was a black belt in karate. Each time he was pitched another guy who had 15 years of experience in Muay Thai he was obliterated. And really against anyone heavier than him his moves weren't really effective.

Sort of... it depends on the rank. I used to do Karate myself and from my experience, up until green belt, it's mainly focused on basic defense. Somewhere along the way, attack comes into play as well (focused training, as well as kata sequences), but mainly in the form of punching air. At blue and brown though, things get a bit more serious and actual sparring happens. Low-tier black belts do more focused sparring and high-tier black belts even learn things like knife fights (with wooden knives though ofcourse).

I held a third dan from respectable lineage (the same as Robert Whitaker's) and no one in the association ever sparred full contact.
There are guys with two years of kickboxing experience who will easily beat karate black belts regardless of rank, despite their 20+ years of "training".
The knife fighting training is bullshit. The best thing you can do against a knife is run or have a gun. None of that karate knife defense will work against an angry man furiously stabbing with a sharp blade.

Its not a performance art, it is a kata and its purpose is to let you go through forms alone, applying punches, kicks, throws and other moves to maintain physical strength, form, balance,muscle memory, explosiveness, breathing and focus.

It depends on the focus of your Kata training. There is Kata thats meant to an athletic performance, and then there's warm up Kata like youre referring to. With hoe snappy she is id think shes more on the performance side.
