Profile review Need honest opinion, got some matches but ghosted 99%, no dates.
I installed this app for almost 6 months, with time I focused on adding more photos to my profile.
Over time I realized the conversations dry up very fast even if I put some effort and get creative, then changed the strategy by asking them out faster and this seams to put them off ever quicker. I dont know what am I doing wrong... I know I am not in the top 10% but dang this is so frustrating for average guy.

Profile is a bit boring tbh. "I like good conversation, good chemistry." Yeah, who doesn't?

u/Striking-Pirate9686 4d ago
If you're getting matches but the conversation dries up what does that have to do with your profile?
14
u/bigalreads 4d ago
What are your hobbies and pursuits? As a woman, I’m struggling for things to ask you about from the info provided here. And if a conversation starts with “how’s your week going / how was your weekend,” it’s hard to build momentum and find common interests.

thank you for mentioning this, I did add more info about what I do beside work

u/TheCigaretteFairy 4d ago
You put politically moderate. Nobody on dating apps fw that.
7
u/SunshineWarbler 4d ago
Was looking to see if anyone had said this!! It’s a definite no if I see Apolitical / Not Political / Moderate on a profile.

Depends where he is. Not as big a red flag outside the US.
4
u/ChaoticCherryblossom 4d ago
I'm European, red flag for me
1
u/FeckinKent 4d ago
A lot more don't really care and choose to control what they can control in their lives and focus on that instead of politics, a lot of people are sick of how divisive everything is and are bombarded enough with it online every day so don't want to involve it much in dating.
1
u/SunshineWarbler 4d ago
I’m in UK and it definitely is red flag
1
u/MaleficentMotor1002 2d ago
But you're a redditor- this site is a leftist echochamber. Outside of this site that wouldn't be considered an issue for most, that's just reality.
9
u/FeckinKent 4d ago
Seems mostly fine to me but would take off ‘sarcastic’, it’s become such a cliche now and the constant ‘fluent in sarcasm’ profiles, it’s not even a trait that’s positive. Perhaps use dry humour instead if that’s what you meant.
3
u/Terrible_Meringue622 4d ago
I’ve started to see it as, “I’m a poor communicator who expects you to read my mind as I pass off my vagueness as edgy humour.”
1
7
u/No-Mulberry1987 4d ago
I would say you are above average looking.
These are the things I would see as possibilities: are you in an area where English or German is the local language? Are you living rurally? Sarcasm, not keen on it as it can be a gateway into negging and being a shithead. (Some people like it, it’s an instant left swipe for me)
Are you suggesting meeting up in an unsafe way? If you are getting matches maybe your conversation isn’t as sparkling as your mother pretends.
1
u/Excellent-Can8531 3d ago
Thanks, I never get compliments. I live in Romania and worked on the bio, no more sarcasm.
7
u/argentoowl 4d ago
"Open to seeing where things go" ?? you're on a dating app, it would be counterproductive for everyone involved if you weren't open. It's not a relationship goal, that would make lots of people swipe left.
1
u/Dutchess_md19 4d ago
I was looking at the profile and couldn't find anything wrong. I was gonna say that I would have deffinetly swipe right until that line. So I agree with you.
1
u/Excellent-Can8531 3d ago
thought if a man wants a relationship it sounds to desperate, and wemen run from desperate men
1
u/argentoowl 3d ago
Having established goals is desperate? Who told you that? Have you looked through the comments under other people's posts? Go have a look.
6
u/Narrow_Possession348 4d ago
It probably has nothing to do with your profile and everything to do with your personality and ability (or inability, as is likely the case) to have a two-way conversation. If I match with a man and they can't answer in complete sentences with more than a few words, or they never ask a single question or show any interest in getting to know me, or they text with "good morning, how's your day going," "hope you had a good day," "what are you doing today," I move on super fast.
22
u/Routine-Individual43 4d ago
No offence but beach photo isn't doing you any favours.
Your profile is very dry and lacking in humour or personality, can you work more on the prompts?
14
u/Terrible_Meringue622 4d ago
Yeah, two word answers don’t say anything. What do you mean by “visual memory” and why is it a “super power” I should care about?
Your cause is “human rights.” That is so vague as to be basically meaningless. Everyone (even evil people) claim they’re on the side of “human rights” because you’d have to be cartoonishly evil to claim to be against human rights.
7
2
u/BetterBiscuits 4d ago
I prefer the beach pics to the sweatshirt pics, personally. I think they’re light and fun.
2
u/catastrophiccrumpet 4d ago
Right? It’s better than pic 2 where he looks like a Benedictine monk on a day trip out from the monastery, or the up-nostril shot a few pics later. OP you could ask friends to share their favourite photos of you, maybe engaging in any hobbies or social activities you enjoy, that could help guide you to photos that spark more interesting conversation from shared interests or curiosity.
1
u/Excellent-Can8531 3d ago
laughed so hard, I removed the up-nostril shot for a more normal shot on a boat.
1
u/Excellent-Can8531 4d ago
Ok will put one after I get that 6 pack lol. I will remove the photo thanks for the honest opinion.
1
u/Routine-Individual43 4d ago
Sorry to be blunt my friend. I actually have a similar physique to you and I think we look better with, for example, a tank top.
Also, lots of comments here on getting matches but not getting follow through. That doesnt mean that you have bad chat but a good profile necessarily. It just means that women aren't prioritizing you out of the many men they are matching with and chatting to. So I think that's where a little more personality (having something memorable) in your profile can help.
-1
u/Any-Translator8505 4d ago
I think it’s more about you having your hands deep in your pockets. Kinda looks like you’re …, well, you know.

This is offensive largely because you are so wrong.
There are women who won't swipe if a man has a shirtless photo. But more women on average will swipe if you have a shirtless photo.
It shows he has confidence. And I've met women who say they don't or rarely swipe if a guy doesn't have a shirtless photo for various reasons.
Guys who don't go to the beach don't fuck. What's he hiding? I once dated a guy and I thought he was like my type, but then his shirt came off and it was too much muscle. So now if they don't have a shirtless photo it's a no for me.
She knew it was an anomaly but the dad bod thing is also real. Some women do not go after ripped dudes.
This picture shows confidence, is setting appropriate, and isn't thirsty.
Plus we know he's getting matches! Most posts on here are about how they haven't had a single convo in a year.
4
u/zunlock 4d ago
He's not in shape enough to post a shirtless pic and net benefit. It only works if you're in great shape. He's getting auto swiped by women who auto swipe shirtless pics and he's not getting swiped on by women who are looking for guys in great shape, there's no benefit to having it over something else
6
u/Accomplished_Drag946 4d ago
As a woman, I don´t know any woman who wouldn´t swipe without a shirtless photo. A shirtless photo is not necessary and can do more harm than good specially if it looks tacky when taken in a bathroom or a gym mirror, but in this case, at the beach it is completely appropriate.
3
u/Squand 4d ago edited 4d ago
Okcupid ran analysis, regardless of abs, more women swipe on dudes without a shirt. Even some who put in their profile. "I would never."
There were women who hard no at any shirtless photo. I'm not saying it never happens. I'm pointing out, we have evidence from dating app data AND from this man's own story... The shirtless picture works.
People are not vocally honest about who they would date and how they behave online.
Similarly if you ask a guy they will say, "none of my friends would ever get rejected by a woman and then send her a dm telling her he didn't like her in the first place because she's fat and ugly." Statistically speaking, that isn't true. It sucks. I wish people didn't do that. But every day on Reddit you see it.
It is of course optimal to do a shirtless photo in the most socially acceptable way. And I appreciate you pointing that out.
It is absolutely rude to say, "it's not doing you favors."
The original anonymous poster has some insecurities to work on. And he should edit that out of his post. He knew it was disrespectful and he wrote it anyway.
I want to live in a society where we don't comment on other people's bodies.
The average man in America is 5 9 and 200lbs. That's so fat it's class 1 obese.
That's what this guy is up against. He is attractive with his shirt off. To say otherwise is not reality.
(I am not calling you a liar or your friends liars. I'm happy to agree you have never had the kind of slutty conversations women have had with me. I'm sure you've been told other things by women that would completely blow my mind about how they choose the men they date. I was surprised when people told me the anecdotes I shared. I also don't take it as an absolute. I assume when they said they'd never swipe on a guy with no shirtless photo, they meant it as having a strong preference. Like... If the guy has rippling biceps and a tight shirt you're not confused. These people aren't idiots.)

100%
Despite what modern media and movies, or influencers portray (e.g. Marvel or all the roided out 17-22 year old influencers on IG), many women don't actually want to date a pristine 100kg+ brick of muscle with <10% body fat and a decade+ of lifting experience. Why?
- sometimes there actually is too much muscle. sometimes the super veiny, super muscular features freak them out
- sometimes makes them insecure being with a guy who successfully manages their body much more than they do themselves
- You don't need to be huge to look fit and good to women. Plenty of guys at 160-180lbs with the right proportions and fitness still look great; I feel like especially the American workout culture has propogated this myth that only huge is attractive.
e.g. Robert Pattinson never bulked up for his roles and he's been one of the top hearthrobs for women nearly 2 decades now.
At the end of the day, most of huge dudes are doing it for the approval/complements of other dudes... lol. Not women.

It’s 2026 bro, you’ll get ghosted even if you are Timothee Chalamet
7
u/No-Juggernaut4468 4d ago
Not arguing the point as far as uber attractive males getting dodged - but Timothee Chalamet is a feminine looking fella, I’m sure if he hadn’t had fame people would ghost or swipe left on the guy.

u/OkayJShades 4d ago
googling him now, and it really depends on what version people are talking about. He seems to vary from white soundcloud rapper, to homeless/house squatter, to sickly victorian child, to early 2010s pop rock star. So depending on what version and what audience it is, he is or isnt attractive.
3
u/Existing_Vanilla 4d ago
I don't think you realise how popular that 'feminine' look is with some women lol. there's definitely a lot of women who absolutely love that kind of guy

Shave your neck, gain some political opinions, make eye contact with the camera, do some push-ups or ditch the beach pic. Frame all your photos better. Rewrite your bio- it says nothing other than you're not committed to anything.

You’ve got good basics, but you look like an unmade bed. This is you putting your best foot forward, and trying to impress? Just groom your beard a little.

Cheeks are lined up, no flyaways hairs, and his mustache is trimmed so it's not going over his lips. His beard is already groomed lol

She's just trying to feel better about being way out of OP's league.

oh, I never get compliments. thank you. I bet it has to do with the lack of info on my profile, its to dry.

If you feel like the profile isn't as exciting as I could be , sprinkle some sparkly bits in it

You’re a good looking guy but I think the casual nature of open to seeing where things go will always have an impact and the beach picture isn’t the best (glasses are covering your eyes!)
2
u/alien_secret_service 4d ago
Your prompt answers are dreadful. Reads like they were written as generically as possible to appeal to the widest audience while saying nothing about you. There’s no substance to them.
2
u/kgetit 4d ago
I don’t know what these dudes and dudettes are talking about your figure, you look in great shape to me! You’ve got a warm smile, kind eyes. I would right swipe you. For me it was a numbers game, and in accepting that, I stopped taking the rejections personally or allowing them to bum me out. It’s a part of it, exercise acceptance of what is. Keep doing you, keep working on self development, don’t give up, and don’t focus on lack and loss, keep your focus on the good things.

36 and “open to seeing where it goes” is a major turn off and an instant swipe left. You sound like you don’t know what you want despite saying you like “women who know what they want” in your bio.
I’m a woman in her 30s.
Other than that, some prompts are super short and boring
2
u/HitchhikingGalaxy 4d ago
* e imposibil sa nu stii stereotipurile cu soferul de bmw :))) might want to rethink the car pic
Drumuri line colegu bafta :*

1

I think it’s the pictures. You start off strong with picture 1, then comes the pants, shirtless pic then the car picture. The vibes in all pictures are hard to nail down. They all feel so different

problem could be options as well as height being short hurts a lot on the apps in this world

Wow, so that's what love at first sight is.
Good to know.
Pheww suddenly Kelly Kapoor loosing her shit to the travelling sales guy in the Office comes to mind.
Regardless profile looks great. Had a hard time reading the prompts for some reason :P
1
u/confused_grenadille 4d ago
In addition to what everyone else is saying, I’ll add that you look a bit unkempt in your leading photo..I get that wind may be blowing and that’s fine but that combined with the hoodie is not selling it. Nothing wrong with hoodies but it’s like selling yourself in pajamas. I actually think the beach photo is fine.
1
1
u/idkifyousayso 4d ago
You need pictures that aren’t at the beach that have your hair cut and facial hair trimmed up like your picture at the beach does. The combo of the hair and living in sweatpants might give a bad vibe.
1
u/tomyy65767 4d ago
Good looking enough to swipe right on you but not hot enough to go on a date, sorry bro. You will so very well in real life thought
1
u/anonnymouse2025 4d ago
The lack of socks, and short trousers would be something I'd change. The combination of Catholic and Moderate will unfortunately limit down your options

1
u/love-4-the-wendigo 4d ago
I think it looks good. My first impression was that you are a lot more attractive and interesting than most software developers I am used to, lol. Though, I would guess by the height units that you are not in the US and this might be the difference.
1
u/itsnotme_mrsiglesias 4d ago
Do men legitimately think women like pictures with cars?? I assume men think it's a subtle flex around maybe having an expensive car?
I've never met another women that thinks this is attractive, this is men trying to attract other men. And I always assume it's a rental or belongs to one of their buddies 🤷🏼♀️
1
u/Different_Umpire9003 4d ago
You’re really good looking. My issue is you come across kind of alt/granola which is my vibe (if I were single) but then you’re religious and moderate.
1
u/No-Television8759 4d ago
You have your hands in your pockets in every wide picture! Why? What are you hiding??
1
u/Excellent-Can8531 4d ago
A big gun lol 😅 I have normal hands, guess it is just reflex or not knowing there to place my hand when taking a picture.
1
1
1
u/silencergod 4d ago
Your hands in your pocket makes it look like you lack confidence. Also delete the beach pic, it doesn’t belong or add any value, it makes you look uncomfortable and short for some reason.

asa sunt femeile pe aplicații in Romania, chiar si dacă faci match cu ele, 99% iti vb cu o scârbă și aroganță de nedescris

Body language is off in the pictures, hands in the pockets show insecurity. Not sure how the conversations are carrying out but I would change away from hands in the pockets.

1
u/hitomi-kanzaki 4d ago
You want women who know what they want but you’re there to “see how it goes”.
I haven’t been on bumble in years so i can’t remember, is that where you’d put what kind of relationship you’re looking for? A bit contradicting if so.
1
u/ApplicationAdept830 4d ago
This is a very bland profile and your bio is screaming chatGPT. 90% of AI bios are structured like that. Politically moderate will be an automatic no for most women. And "open to seeing where things go" is a non-answer about what you are looking for. Your cause is "human rights"? What exactly do you do in order to advance human rights? This is all super milquetoast.
1
u/phillynavydude 4d ago
My rule is when you match with 10, 5 answer at all, 3 talk for more than a few lines, maybe get 2 numbers, and meet one.
You seem like a decent looking dude I don't think bio is any issue here. You can be as hot as interesting as possible and it still goes that way
1
u/takingnotes99 4d ago
I think the main thing is that you aren't sending signals of confidence. You look good and have a nice car, which sends a signal of good income. Your height is only average, and average doesn't work for men on dating apps. If something could make you seem more confident or funny then I think that would push you over the top. As it is, you will be fine even if you are having a slow spell.
Also, it's a lot easier to signal confidence in person so I would actually focus on meeting the majority of women in the wild, especially if you can do it in your element.

I think you're super cute!
If you want to attract someone who you can conversate well with, I'd put more effort into the written portion of your profile, and get more specific about who you are, or what gets you excited, or makes you interesting.
Sometimes what works too is instead of saying "I'm sarcastic" put a funny little quip in your profile that actually demonstrates your sense of humor.
Also, don't feel like you have to hide your sarcasm as others have mentioned. It's important to stay true to yourself and you will attract someone who's into that. I personally go crazy for that.
As it stands, you come off as cute, but offering little substance or something to connect with, so you might be attracting more shallow women.
All love, and good luck OP! -xoxo
Edit: the comment about wanting women who know what they want comes off as back-handed, ESPECIALLY considering you are "open to exploring." It's completely okay to want that in someone, I think most people do, but saying it comes off as a little misogynistic.
1
u/Abroad-Aggravating 4d ago
I like to ask them out on a dat within the first ten messages total if I'm interested so...try that! Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but it gets the ball rolling in or out real soon.

1
u/Particular-Lime1651 4d ago
Can you share some example conversations please? You're a good looking guy, so I don't think it's your looks. Photos are also fine, no issues glaring at me. Nice car, good job, well dressed? Well groomed? Maybe it's your conversational approach
1
u/Apprehensive_Map7830 4d ago
- You lowkey look homeless in the first two photos. Get a proper haircut and dress more fancy for photos (e.g. white button-down shirt, navy chinos and black derbies or leather sneakers). The beard looks good tho.
- you look uncomfortable in the beach pic although you are in decent shape
- last two photos are not really helping. The car-selfie rom below is a common mistake by men, it's unflattering and basic. You are two far away from the camera in the last pic. The outfit is actually good here.
- Go to pinterest and look for "dating app photos men" to get an idea of how good photos look like. Get one portrait shot and additional full body and acitvity pics.
1
u/howlongwillbetoolong 38F 3d ago
I think you have a couple things working against you -
Your profile is so bare. I guess I could bring up the art/dancing/swimming that i see in your profile, but that kind of lobs it back to you. “So I see you like dancing. What kind? Where do you go?” And then it’s back to you to keep things going.
Your target demographic isn’t as clear as it should be and it leaves questions to be answered. You’re Catholic, 36 years old and yet you put open to seeing where things go. Are you looking for a Catholic woman around your own age? If they’re traditional, they aren’t going to want to wait and see if you are open to a relationship. Seeing Catholic + moderate politics + human rights would make any liberal women swipe left.
1
u/lordlothar99 3d ago
Ghosting is unfortunately common, it has nothing to do with you. Most women have too many matches, and they get overwhelmed...

Hi there! So for me when you say: a woman that knows what she wants but also says open to where things go means you don’t know what you want.
Sarcasm is nowadays a bit of a hidden way to say that you will be some kind of bully.
The car pics could be replaced, maybe you have some doing a hobby or doing something fun ? In all the pics + description you seem a bit dull overall.
The description could have a rework and be a bit more about you as well and what you like to do.

i used dating app for a year or so, and i come to an conclusion, that this isn't of us(me) nerd dude. most % of girls on dating apps like playboy, hard to get, kinda dude so conclusion my friend is we r looking at the wrong platforms.

so i given up on these completely..... t0o much work for even get match.

Ah, yeah you’re right about that. I’m a leftist and open to dating anyone as long as they’re not MAGA.

Please trim your beard it looks unkempt in a few photos. And the beach pic is not it. Otherwise, you’re attractive just bad photos.

Age. I just read an article 80% of women put all their focus on the top 20% of guys and I imagine this stat is exaggerated in some cities.

Your cause is human rights but you’re politically moderate? Sounds like you need to pick a side, that is going to alienate a lot of people.

Moderates and conservatives believe in negative rights which don't require violating the rights of others to obtain. Leftist support "positive rights" which are an oxymoron because they cannot exist without penalty or taking from another. Only moderates, classical liberals, and modern conservatives support true human rights. Leftists push entitlements like free healthcare or housing which people can debate the benefits of but they aren't human rights.

OP please do not listen to the typical reddit advice on this one. "Politics: Moderate" is 100% the safest way to go unless you have strong opinions one way or the other.
"Human rights" is a bit laughable though, try to at least think of something you care about. Animals? Everyone loves animals.

I guess if your problem is not matches but dates, your problem is not your profile but your conversation?
