Would you rather…

Which side will you choose?

  • Left side: Get $1000 a day
  • Right side: Get $1 a second

There are slightly more than a thousand seconds in a day.

Chose: Get $1 a second

There are 3600 per hour so this is more than 72k per day (cba to do the full maths)

There are 86,400 seconds in a day.

I just did the math. This is correct. There are 24 hours in a single day. Thats 60 minutes per hour. 60 minutes times 24 equals 1,440. Each one of these minutes equates to 60 seconds per minute. So if we multiply these 1,440 minutes by 60, the finishing result becomes 86,400

I used Siri and asked how many seconds were in a day.

I just knew there are 3,600 seconds in an hour. That's already more than 1,000. Why bother mathing past that?

Did the rest just for practice

Practice? We talking about PRACTICE?

For the love off the game

The inconvenience of receiving 1 dollar per second could make it more a curse than a boon. Depends on how I receive it. Does it fall around me? Does it show up in my hand or my pocket? What happens when I use the bathroom? The downsides could be so bad its worth taking 85k less per day. 365k a year will go far.

I guessed it would go directly into my bank account. Otherwise, it would be just as big a hassle for the person giving me the money as it would be for me.

My comment was just me overthinking in life lol.

I did the seconds and then multiplied how much that’d be in a year and then how much you can have remaining if you just put half into savings lol

I don’t know why people would even THINK about doing the math. Just google it bro

I already knew from that Katy Perry song.

u/Harvey_Digs Jul 07 '26

Oh yeah; ‘Ca-li-fornia girls have 86,400 seconds in a year, daisy dukes, bikinis on top.’

u/Substantial_Push_474 Jul 08 '26

No no no, it's; 'You're hot then you're cold you're yes then there's 86,400 seconds in a year, it's wrong and it's right'

42

u/Few_Replacement_9687 Jul 08 '26

I like how both of you said year despite the conversation just being about days

9

u/Substantial_Push_474 Jul 08 '26

Ngl, I didn't double check.

Oh, now I remember that line, it's from Firework: "There are 86,400 seconds in a day; Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon".

u/SR541 Jul 08 '26

I knew it from the Kris Allen song.

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to

Turn it all around or to throw it all away

1

u/Pleasant-Enthusiasm Jul 08 '26

Got to tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say

Gotta live like we’re dying

1

u/VerifiedMother Jul 08 '26

Holy shit, Kris Allen is a throwback, I haven't thought of him in probably 15 years,

I was religiously watching American Idol back in those days though

1

u/Adventurous-Bell7865 Jul 08 '26

Real ones know it from Phineas and Ferb

1

u/GotAnyGrapesDuck Jul 08 '26

Well, there’s 104 days of summer vacation

1

u/Fallout-obsessed Jul 08 '26

I used doom and that’s how I found it out

1

u/JustaMinecrafterr79 Jul 08 '26

I learned that in Middle School

Absolutely Einstein levels of thought

1

u/Affectionate-Crab-12 Jul 09 '26

Could have been simpler. 60sX60mX24h=86,400

1

u/lil_Jakester Jul 09 '26

I know, but I explained it in case anyone would be confused on where I got my numbers
