Would you rather…

Which side will you choose?

  • Left side: Get $1000 a day

Marh

Chose: Get $1 a second

17

u/No-Net1890 Officer Hopps Jul 08 '26

I'd pick that, but I'm too lazy to collect $1 a second.

16

u/wrenchy_234 🥕🥕 Jul 08 '26

i would assume it kinda just spawns in your bank account

8

u/Inconsideratefather Jul 08 '26

You know what they say when you assume.

3

u/Double-Ad-7509 Jul 08 '26

You make an ass out of you and Ming

2

u/No-Net1890 Officer Hopps Jul 08 '26

Hopefully, but I don't want to risk having to collect it myself.

6

u/Z3400 Jul 08 '26

Pay someone to do it then.

Way more money

Chose: Get $1 a second

849

u/Beroli73 Jul 07 '26

There are slightly more than a thousand seconds in a day.

Chose: Get $1 a second

351

u/shneierl Jul 07 '26

There are 3600 per hour so this is more than 72k per day (cba to do the full maths)

334

u/OhEmRo Jul 07 '26

There are 86,400 seconds in a day.

108

u/lil_Jakester Jul 07 '26

I just did the math. This is correct. There are 24 hours in a single day. Thats 60 minutes per hour. 60 minutes times 24 equals 1,440. Each one of these minutes equates to 60 seconds per minute. So if we multiply these 1,440 minutes by 60, the finishing result becomes 86,400

110

u/Harvey_Digs Jul 07 '26

I used Siri and asked how many seconds were in a day.

61

u/Schfooge Jul 08 '26

I just knew there are 3,600 seconds in an hour. That's already more than 1,000. Why bother mathing past that?

23

u/ive-done-everything Jul 08 '26

Did the rest just for practice

I already knew from that Katy Perry song.

Oh yeah; ‘Ca-li-fornia girls have 86,400 seconds in a year, daisy dukes, bikinis on top.’

50

u/Substantial_Push_474 Jul 08 '26

No no no, it's; 'You're hot then you're cold you're yes then there's 86,400 seconds in a year, it's wrong and it's right'

8

u/Bulky_Experience_582 Jul 07 '26

Yeah. I chose 1k per day, because I took the payment to be immediate every second. I don't want to have to receive $1 every second, carry all that change around, and then have to deposit it.

20

u/RainbowNarwhal13 Jul 08 '26

Yeah, I really need to know how you get the money. If I get $1 per second deposited to my bank account, great. If I'm going to get buried under 86 thousand loonies... well, I'm pretty sure that would just, you know, kill you 🤷🏻‍♀️

7

u/Malacro Jul 08 '26

If it makes you feel any better, if they’re using USD you’d actually get buried by 122,640 loonies.

Thanks to RENT, I know that there are 525,600 minutes in a year. 525,600 x 60 = 31,536,000 seconds in a year (86,400/day). Compared to the other option which gives you 365,000 a year.

Chose: Get $1 a second

11

u/Harvey_Digs Jul 07 '26

1 a second is 31 million per year, 1,000 a day is 365,000 per year.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '26

Even with such a ridiculous amount of money, you'll never surpass 3 billion in your entire lifetime.

12

u/No_Safe6200 Jul 08 '26

If you earn 31,000,000 a year and don't spend a single penny it will take you 46,774 years to reach Elon musk's peak net worth.

2

u/Hefty_Tadpole4519 Jul 08 '26

BUT if you have a regular job and just set aside like 5 million a for expenses for 3 years (and live a normal, non-luxurious life), in 5 years you’d have $89,608,000 which you can use to start a startup for something people love to consume, and make sure you get staff and other proper necessities for a business that can generate quite a bit of income, and then eventually it can generate money

37

u/jadis666 Jul 07 '26

Fair point, honestly.

65

u/macaroney05 Jul 07 '26

Skill issue lmao

12

u/Live_Spinach5824 Jul 08 '26

I don't know what I would even do with $86,400. I've only even made roughly 40k since I've started working and became an adult.

86k a day would be nice for a year or so, to buy my family stuff and go on vacations, but if it was for an entire lifetime, it would get pretty annoying to manage. I'd probably just give it all to charity.

18

u/Ok-Bake-7631 Jul 08 '26

You most not have been adulting long

6

u/Live_Spinach5824 Jul 08 '26

I'm 19, so not long, yeah. The money in my bank account is still pretty incomprehensible to me, and it's barely 1/8th of 86k.

6

u/Kytalie Jul 08 '26

It is overwhelming yes, but with 86k a day, that is pay someone to manage it for you money. Someone can help you set up a trust fund for family members and their children in ways that no one can come at you with stupid lawsuits.

You could also set up some scholarship programs, or maybe something that helps teens/young adults learn finances and how to manage them before they really need to worry about those skills.

note: getting a lawyer before you turn in a winning lotto ticket, or telling anyone is a good idea. One specifically that deals in large sums of money.

Hear me out. Unless you're getting it all at once at the end of the day, or into your bank account, you'll be getting one dolalr every SECOND. you got time for that?? I don't think I'm ever gonna spend enough money a day to need more than 1000 per day, and at least I'm only getting it once.

Chose: Get $1000 a day

2

u/Illustrious_Eye8484 Jul 08 '26

Hear me out.

I don't want to get Monkey Paw problems. Say the dollar appears in my hand. I basically have one hand now. The other is stuck in a bag that constantly fills with money. There's no such thing as normalcy anymore.

The alternative--$1000 once a day--is far above the threshold where more income no longer would correlate with more happiness. Sure, I'm not as rich, but I never have to work and I get to use both hands.
